Chapter 11

After much conversation and finishing my food, I placed my hand on Halfdan's arm, to draw his attention back to me. I confidently said, "I am ready for you to train me." Halfdan nodded, "Follow everything I say. Come on." He stood up, offering me his hand, and I took it. He helped me up, and as I took a step forward. I lost my balance. Halfdan was still holding my hand and had wrapped his arm around my back, placing his hand on the small of my back, to stabilise me. Once I regained my balance, I looked up at Halfdan and nodded at him, "I am good. I just need to get my sea legs. Where do we start." Halfdan smiled and walked across the deck of the ship, he bent down and picked up two wooden swords. He handed one to me. It is a toy sword. Well, I guess they have to train the kids somehow. "Be prepared to block and try to strike where you can. Ready?" I nodded, listening carefully to his instructions. I watched his every move carefully, ready so his attack. He swung his sword at me, and I blocked it. I pushed back and then he tried again. "Good, you are doing well. Now, try to attack," Halfdan beamed. I nodded. I calculated my next moves carefully. I faked a swing to the right and managed to jab his left side. He was impressed. I went on the attack again. But, this time when I took a swing at him, he dodged it, gripped my wrist and twirled me around, so that my back was pressed against his body. He brought his sword up to try and put the wooden blade against my neck, but I blocked it with my sword. "Good. Now, what are you going to do now? Your in a very compromising position," Halfdan whispered in my ear. "Are you sure about that," I teased. I stomped heavily on his foot. He stumbled backwards. I gripped the sword in his hand and snatched it away from him. I turned around, as I quickly twirled it around and crossed the blades of the swords over, placing them against his neck. Ivar began clapping. Halfdan smiled, nodding his head. "Well done, I think she is ready for real swords," Ivar approved my skills, and clearly wanted me to take the next stage. "We will wait till we are on land before we try real weapons, but I do think you are ready," Halfdan said. I smiled, proud of myself for being able to impress hardened Viking warriors. I looked up in the direction the ship was heading, and I could see land, it was growing closer. A huge wave crashed against the ship, knocking everyone over. Halfdan fell on top of me, as I fell on to the deck of the ship. His whole body was pressed against mine. I could feel his manhood pressing against my lower abdomine. Heat rushed to my cheeks, I knew I was blushing heavily. I was getting aroused, and I didn't want that to happen. I just love my treacherous body. He propped himself up on his hands, he met my gaze and gave me a smirk. He leaned in and pressed his lips against mine. I was completely shocked. Our lips moved in perfect sync. The kiss was amazing, but there wasn't any fireworks. Ivar cleared his throat. Halfdan immediately pulled away, and I blushed even more. Halfdan mumbled, "I am sorry. I shouldn't have done that." He got off of me and stood up, before holding his hand out to me. He helped me up. I smiled at him, before turning and going to sit next to Liv. I didn't say a word to anyone after that. I just pondered my thoughts. I mean yeah it was a great kiss but it wasn't special. I wasn't going to give myself to anyone here, I didn't feel anything for them. I always promised my mum that I would wait to give myself to anyone that I knew I was in love with them before going that far. So, yes I am a 25 year old virgin, waiting for the man of my dreams. He certainly wasn't here in this time, or the future for that matter. We reached land not long after. We disembarked and we set up camp. Once, camp was set up, Halfdan and Ubbe began teaching me to fight with real swords. I excelled at fighting with just swords, so they trained me to fighting with a sword and shield. Even helped me learn the shield wall battle technique. I learnt incredibly quickly. They were both incredibly impressed, with how quickly I learnt to fight with a sword and shield. Bjorn taught me to fight with axes, which was fun. He taught me to fight and throw them as a range weapon. Bjorn was impressed with how quickly I learned to fight with axes on top of a sword and shield. After a nice quite break alone, I felt strong enough to try their next weaponary challenges. Ivar was next to teach me. He showed how to do archery. Now, I done this when my dad took my camping when I was younger, so it was very easy for me to pass with flying colours. Ivar and me practiced throwing knives afterwards, which was harder than it looked. I cut my hands several times, but strangely it didn't take me long to master that too. Halfdan was always hoovering, while his were training me. It made me wonder why. I just hoped to god, he didn't have feeling for me. He might be my present, but he certainly isn't my future. The sons of Ragnar just reminded me of my sibling rivalry with my own brother, it made it hard to see any of them as anything but close friends. Later that night, I went to my tent where Liv was also staying. Liv smiled, "How are you, Daphne? We should check your wounds." "I am well, I think I trained well today. We should look at these wounds. They really don't hurt that much any more," I replied, enjoying a chance to finally rest. Liv came to me and began to check all my wounds. She was glad they were healing well. After, putting new bandages on my wounds. I laid down to rest and sleep took me rather quickly.
