Another day stuck in the past arrived, as the sun beamed through the windows. I had got myself up and out of bed early to get breakfast ready for Liv. I mean I had to say thank you some how. The look on Liv's face was perfect. She was surprised and grateful. She didn't expect me to do that with my leg. But, it had healed up to a bearable pain so it was the least I could do for saving me. As we sat down to eat breakfast, I asked, "What is the plan for today?" "Well, it is time to harvest some herbs so we can left them dry out. But, you need to be careful on that leg," Liv replied with a warning staring. "I will be fine. I have to get up and moving more on this leg or I will struggling later in life." Once, we had finally had breakfast we made our way outside to Liv's garden. Liv pointed out which ones she wanted picking. I knelt down and began picking the one she had pointed out for me to pick. Time had flown by, we had almost finished our task, when Liv asked, "I am going to get a drink. Would you like one, Daphne?" "Please," I replied while nodding. I continued on with my task, as Liv disappearred into the house. Thats when I heard a branch snap behind me it was very closer. I felt someone close behind me. I didn't dare turn around, I just planned my next move, calling up everything from the self defence classes I took at school. Instead, I shifted my weight on to my left leg and, in one fluid motion, I leaned forward kicked my right leg out and swung my leg into the person's ankles, knocking them onto their back. If I remember rightly, that move is called the tiger tail sweep. I quickly crawled backwards away from the person and performed a kip up, which got me back to my feet. I instinctively clenched my fists ready to punch. The adernaline in my body making me forget all about the pain in my leg. Liv came running out a moment later, as the man I had knocked down got back to his feet. Two other men were with him, one was in a cart and the other was helping the man I had knocked over. "You men really need to announce yourselves rather than sneaking up on people. Daphne, this is Ubbe, Halfdan, and Ivar," Liv grumbled to them before introducing them. All three were tall men, well Ivar would be if he were standing. You could tell they were all brothers. All had blue eyes but they had different hair colours. Ivar had brown hair. Ubbe and Halfdan had dirty blonde hair. All of them had beards, though Ubbe and Halfdan's beards were denser and more full. Each man was armed to the teeth and dressed in Viking clothing and armour. "I am Ivar. It is a pleassure to meet someone who can put my brother on his arse. Halfdan told me of your beauty but I didn't believe him. Now, I can say his description didn't do you justice. You're far more beautiful," Ivar said with a smirking expression and a wave of his hand. Ubbe was now back standing on his feet, he turned to me and asked, "How on earth did you do that? I saw how bad your leg was when we found you in the forest." "She has healed incredibly well. The last few days, she has come along way." I looked from Liv to the three men that were in front of me. I was at a complete lose for words. The adernaline was beginning to fade from my body. The pain was getting worse. I winced. "Are you hurt," asked Halfdan, almost concerned. Liv rushed to myside. Halfdan and Ubbe both took a step closer to me, but Halfdan was closer. "I am fine. After doing that the pain in my leg is coming back," I replied, finally speaking. "She speaks," Ivar teased. "Yes, I do speak. I can also do alot more. So, please no teasing my intelligence," I retorted. He held his hands up almost to say I surrender. Liv spoke next, "Shall we all go inside?" I nodded. Liv stayed by myside, as I took my first step. But, my left leg gave out under me and I began to fall. Halfdan reached out and caught me. Before, bending down tucking his arm behind my knees and wrapping his other arm around my shoulders, lifting me up into his arms. "I can walk, you know," I whined, and that was not meant to come out like that, fabulous I sound like a petulant child. He chuckled, "Well, I can't resist helping a wounded woman. Especially, one as beautiful as you." Being carried bridal style and with everyone saying I am beautiful, I could only blush a deep red. It didn't help that these men, even though they are meant to be quite a brutal lot of people, were good looking young men. Halfdan smirked again at me because I was blushing. I heard Ubbe whisper to Ivar, "I think she is a virgin." Liv led them in to the house. Halfdan sat me down carefully on my bed, before tucking a strand of hair behind my ear. I smiled, "Thank you." He smiled back. Ubbe put Ivar down on the chair near the hearth. So, Ivar can't walk. Halfdan took a seat next to me on my bed. "What brings all three of you here," Liv asked graciously. "Ragnar is dead and we are forming a great army to go to England to get revenge. We will need you to come with us so our brother, Ivar, can come with us," Ubbe explained with authority. I looked to Liv, who met me gaze, and smiled at me. "We will go with you. But, you have to swear that we will be safe and remain unharmed. No one can touch us not you nor your men. I know what men can be like after battle," Liv negotiated terms. "I swear it on my arm ring. That you and Daphne will be unharmed. If anyone were to touch you uninvited then they will be punished. We did bring dinner. We caught a wild boar. You two can pack and we will leave in the morning," Ubbe replied. Liv thanked them. She instructed me to rest while she packed for us. Ubbe began cooking the boar. Conversation began to flow between us all. I was honestly surprised that they were all gentlemanly, considering what has been written in history about these men.
