I’d warned him over breakfast the morning following the first night he spent at the house that I had begun a new book, which he knew, plus the fact there were things I needed to do for the unveiling of Falcone: Undercover Gentlemen Nine. One of those things was the requisite book tour. As I had for the previous one, I planned on driving between cities so I could bring Jazz with me. Once my publisher had given me my itinerary, I let Noah know the dates I’d be gone. He took it in stride, a bit too easily in my estimation. I had more than one moment’s worry that he might see it as a way to sever our ties. I didn’t truly believe he was even considering that, but then I hadn’t thought David would cheat on me
