“Shift?” he repeated as though he hadn’t heard her right.
“Yeah. Shift for me. Let me see your lion.” She knew that if she could prove to him that his lion didn’t frighten her, it would go a long way to alleviating his worry. That was the real issue. He couldn’t understand why she wasn’t terrified that he wasn’t human. What he didn’t understand is that while he had been dealing with Larry and controlling his cat, she had taken the chance to get a really good look. His lion’s only thought had been to protect her. She had been able to feel the cat’s emotions just as much as she had Tony’s. His lion was just as devoted to her as he was. In a way, she felt just as connected to that lion as she did to him.
