Matthew is still in the window, looking at Richard and the Sheriff standing in the middle of the street, talking to Treasure and Qaletaqa. Some men are carrying the Cogburn brothers out of the street. Mr. Cary, the undertaker, is counting the twelve dollars that Qaletaqa gave him to bury the brothers.
