CHAPTER 5

2434 Words
A crying girl sat in the bathtub, she cried, and she cried. But to her avail no help came for her, she was not being attacked or neither she was physically hurt. She was hurt emotionally, and the pain she felt in her heart was a lot more cruel than a physical one. Just an hour ago her classmates played a prank on her. For them it was only a joke, but Rachel has never felt so humiliated in her life. College was tough she knew that, but she never knew that people she believed to be her friends will betray her like this. What would her teachers will think of her now? Her parents? And what about Ethan? These questions surrounded Rachel's mind, just a week ago she joined her new college. Before leaving her home behind, she and Ethan agreed that it would be best if they broke up. Because both of them knew long distance relationships never work out. Rachel was starting to regret her decision, she missed Ethan. She missed him so much; sure, they agreed to be just friends. But Ethan was a catch, by now some girl would have definitely claimed him. Funny how life works when they were together, not once they thought about their future. They were just two crazy teenagers in love, but now high school was over. As the thoughts of Ethan started troubling Rachel again, she mentally slapped herself. It was her idea to break up in the first place, so why was she being such a baby about it now? Her thoughts were interpreted by the large banging sound that came from the bathroom door. It must be her obnoxious, rude, emo roommate. "What do you want?" Rachel asked from the other side of the door. She was not crying anymore; she was too tired to do that. "There's someone at the door for you, madam. And I am not asking any questions for you. Do it yourself" her voice was filled with rudeness.  Sometimes Rachel wonders why she is so lucky. First her classmates then her roommate, the loveliest people in the world were saved up for her only by god.  Rachel finally steps out of the bathtub and fixes her hair, before going out to face the stranger who is waiting for her. She enters her bedroom to find her roommate siting on the other side of their room. Rachel makes her way to the door. When she finally opens it, she is greeted by that one person who can just make her day with a smile. It was Ethan, in all his glory. He looked cute today not sexy or masculine, his hair was combed back. Which was not normal for him, he was the type of guy who generally doesn't care about his appearance. His white shirt was tucked inside. He was wearing black jeans, funny because Rachel has never seen Ethan dress up so much. Was he going for a job interview? "Ethan what are you doo...ing here?" Rachel stuttered; she was so confused. "I came to see you love" Ethan gave her one of his world-famous warm smiles. After weeks he finally decided on what to do, since he and Rachel have broken up. He felt so incomplete. "But we broke up... I meant... We are... just come inside, will you?" it was weird for Rachel too. Because all she wanted to do now was throw herself at him, but she needed to be strong. It was her decision after all to breakup. "No, I can't. It needs to be done now" Ethan said while rubbing his hands and pacing back and forth in front her. Rachel was getting so much confused now. "What needs to be done?" she asked curiously. Ethan looked at her and all his doubts were gone in an instant, all his anxiety was gone. He kneeled down in front of at her on one knee, searched his left pocket in his jeans. And took out a tiny little golden box. And he said "this" while slowly opening it. The box revealed a ruby diamond ring, nor too big nor too small. It was just perfect for Rachel, she wanted to say something. But again, she was lost in words. Taking her silence as a sign to continue on Ethan spoke again. "I know that we agreed to keep our distance, and you said you wanted a mature man. Not a kid so I am doing the mature thing here, I can't spend my life without you. Hell, I can't even imagine it without you, because I need you. So'" he took a long breath after finishing his speech before saying "Rachel, will you be my future wife?"  She didn't answer she just crouched down until she was in the same level with him and kissed him with all the passion that she had. And slowly whispered in his ear "yes, I would love to be your bride." Rachel woke up from the dream, it was a dream made from a real memory. Everything she saw in that dream was true, but in reality, she looked much more hideous when she opened that door for Ethan. She sighed; Ethan the man, around him her whole world was centred.  From high school sweethearts to husband and wife. He was there with her all the time, in every memory. But the memory which was making Rachel all so shy and blush so hard was last night's. It was in all the best night of s*x they ever had in a very long time, they both were lustful and rough too. Rachel discovered a new side of her last night; she never thought she would fight for dominance with Ethan.  It was magical and quite a new experience for both of them. But why did she do it? Why give yourself to a man who threatened to kill you. She didn't know, a part of her didn't want to know. She was happy, she felt too happy to care about the fact that what might the future will bring her? Happiness or death. Has Ethan finally changed or it was just an act. An act to get what he wants. Rachel's eyes flew open from the realization; of course it was an act. How could she be so naïve and trust him with her soul again, with her body again. He can't just change from psycho husband to lovey dovey husband. She needed to get out of here; she tried to get up from where she was sleeping. But an arm on her waist stopped her from doing so, it was Ethan's arm, his arm was around her waist; her attempts to break free from his grasp were in vain. But they did lead Ethan to snuggle with her more. For a second, she actually liked it, sleeping so close to him. In his arms she felt Safe, but she knew if she was starting to feel safe with Ethan; she has definitely gone mad or worse, she was still in love with him. She grabbed his wrist, and very slowly replaced her body with a pillow. She took small steps towards the door; she made sure to check on Ethan every other step. It was still dark outside; it must be around 5 AM. She collected her cloths which were lying in the room randomly, and as soon she was dressed up. She got out of the bedroom as fast as she could. Her pace quickened with every step she took, it was like as soon as she will be freed, Ethan will just grab her and will drag her to the very same place where he will be going to and that place was hell. A place for sinners, psycho husbands and cheating wives.  She was downstairs now, and she was shocked beyond limits. Every gate, every window, every tiny hole was sealed. You can say the whole cabin was on lockdown; no one can come in, no one can get out. Rachel was helpless every tiny little hope she had was gone. Rachel thought when did he do all this? She had two options either stay here and cry or go upstairs and pretend this never happened. Option 2 was much better since if she stayed down here Ethan will know she tried to escape which will eventually result in her death. But before she was about to go upstairs a very tiny, shiny and small object captured her eyes. it was a cell phone, lying on the kitchen counter. She ran towards it and pinched herself to see if it was even real or not. It was real, the cell phone and everything also, and also the one bar indicating low battery of the cell phone was real too. She can only make one call; okay then this will have to do it. She used the cell phone and placed it back where she saw it the first time. She made sure to delete the call history before placing it back. She didn't want to Ethan found out about this. Without making any noise Rachel entered the bedroom again, and very slowly climbed back into the bed. And in minutes she was asleep again, in her husband's arms. She wanted to stay awake, but the warmth of the bed and the sweet snoring of Ethan made her fall back asleep again. --------------------------------------------- Rachel woke up again from a noise that came from the kitchen. Her vision was still blurry; she searched the spot next to her. No Ethan, it meant he was awake. She started feeling an unknown fear, a fear of her husband. The noise came again, this time louder. Then again, and then again. By now she was fully awake and on alert mode. She tried to listen more carefully and then that noise was much clearer to her now. It was sound of plates breaking; and someone was breaking them by throwing them on the floor with a lot of force. No doubt it was Ethan, but why was he breaking plates. Rachel got up again and made her way to the kitchen. She was taking very slow steps towards Ethan as if she was afraid, he might throw a plate at her. The old wooden floor creaked when Rachel placed her left toe on it. The sound was barely audible, but it was enough to let Ethan know that he wasn't alone here. He turned around to saw a horrified Rachel. Her face looked like as if she has seen a ghost. She was absolutely terrified to face an angry hubby at this time. She was frozen at her spot; she wanted to run, but she couldn't. "What are you doing here?" Ethan spat at her. Not trying to hide the venom in his voice. "What's this?" Rachel asked while taking a better look at the broken pieces of ceramic lying on the floor. 'Why are you breaking plates?' Ethan stared at her, his expression not softening at all. He took a long deep breath as if he was restraining himself from doing something wrong "I am angry." "So, you just start breaking kitchen appliance whenever you feel angry?" Rachel didn't know why she was interrogating him or why she was asking all these questions. Ethan was just a puzzle to her now, a puzzle which she wanted to solve. "And why are you angry?" "Don't ask questions whose answers you already know" "I don't anything okay. One minute you tie me to ropes and the other you are making love to me. If anyone is wrong here, it's you." "I am tired and sick of your not knowing anything at all attitude" Ethan took steps closer to her with every word. As in a pattern she took steps back automatically, the lying glass and ceramic pieces on the floor made her foot bleed but she didn't care. "What are you talking about I have done nothing." "Oh, I don't believe you, my dear wife, you played me. Didn't you?" he stopped a few steps away from her. "Played you? I didn't, please Ethan I love you" she didn't know if she actually meant it. "You fear me. How could you love me? Last night was just a trick. A filthy trick, did your lover taught you that?" Ethan's angry hatred voice was changed to a playful one. "I don't fear you!!" "You don't?" Ethan asked amused "then why do you back away from me whenever I step closer to you?" Rachel realized her mistake; she was doing this since she has started this nonsense conversation with Ethan. But now there was no space to back away, her back was to a table. A busted expression was formed on Rachel's face. Ethan noticed that expression and with a predator speed he stalked towards her with all his strength. Panic arose in Rachel and in that moment, she grabbed the first thing her hand can find on the table behind her and threw it in Ethan's direction to hit him with it. It was a vase, surely it surprised Ethan but he dodged it. And now he was again the pure devil he once was at the beginning of this honeymoon. He took a deep breath and then showed his perfect white teethes to Rachel and smirked at her and said. 'You shouldn't have done that, now I will have to punish you.' As soon as Rachel heard the word punish, she knew there was going to be only one survivor in this marriage. It was either him or her, and she wanted to be that survivor. She tried to run away from him by turning back. But Ethan was quick, and he was already ready to grab her, he grabbed her hair in one fist which caused her to fall on her back. "Time for your punishment, my bride." He started dragging her from her hairs; he was dragging her on the floor. Rachel was in too much pain to care where he was taking her. She grabbed his fist from where he was holding her, she tried to make him let go. But he was too strong for her, she kicked but all she was able to achieve was knock out some lamps in the process. She started crying loudly, she was bleeding from several places now. The shattered glass lying on the floor made several deep cuts as well as small ones too. She was grabbing her hair from upper part to make it less painful, in each and every second she felt like as her scalp was peeling off from her head.  In this time right now, she regretted so many things. Why did she fell in love with Ethan? Or why did she marry him? But the thing she was regretting the most was that why didn't she called the police today when she had the chance?
