Shadows of a Broken Bond

Mall part 2

I took out my phone and dialed Jade. Jade is the manager of this department because I’m the owner.

“Hello Miss Moore, how are you?” Jade asks.

“I’m here at the store. Come, now” I said leaving no chance for arguments before hanging up the phone. Fifteen minutes later Jade rushes into the store with her baby. The saleswoman rushes to Jade and fakes cries.

“This woman and her boyfriend have been very rude to me-” Jade ignores her and walks towards me.

“Miss Moore, what can I do for you?” Jade asks. I can tell she’s exhausted by the dark circles under her eyes. I explain to her everything that happened and tell her that she can look at the cameras but Jade shook her head.

“No need for that. It’s not the first time I’ve had problems with her. I just haven’t had anyone who could replace her, but its over. Cora, grab your stuff, you’re fired and banned from this store” Jade said.

“What? You can’t do that? You don’t own this store” Cora, the saleswoman says.

“No, she doesn’t but I do and she’s the manager so what she says goes” I said.

“Be glad you’re not banned from the whole mall” Jade said.

“Yeah, like she owns the mall” Cora spat.

“Actually, she does” Jade said making Cora look at me and I smirk. Cora walks to the back mumbling under her breath before walking out a couple of minutes later. She walks out the door and doesn’t look back.

“I’m so sorry about her” Jade said.

“If you need someone you could have called me. I have someone who is really good with people. She’s a single mom of two kids” I tell her.

“It would be great, Kamile” she says using my first name since we’re alone.

“It’s no problem. By the way, what her name?” I asked gesturing to the clerk I was talking to earlier.

“Her name is Daisy” Jade said.

“She’s really good with people. Don’t let her go” I tell her and Jade nods.

“Who is he?” Jade asks.

“My new bodyguard. This is the best store I know and the manager is amazing at making suits, so I had to come here” I said before winking at her and making her laugh.

“May I hold her?” I ask Jade. I love kids. I have never had a boyfriend and was forcefully kissed once, but when I find the right person, I want to have kids with him.

“Of course” Jade said handing me her daughter. Jade leans on the counter and take a deep breath.

“You look exhausted” I pointed out.

“Being a new mom is not easy. Stacey wakes up a lot during the night” Jade says.

“What about Bill. Isn’t he helping you?” I asked her.

“Bill and I are having some problems. A female showed up at my house looking for Bill. I asked her who she was and she said his fiancé and asked me who I was. I told him I was his fiancé and his baby momma. The news of him being with someone else sent me into labor. Good thing I had pushed back the wedding a couple of times. Something just deep inside me told me he was not meant for me” Jade said.

“I can’t tell you I know how it feels because I don’t you can bring a playpen and put it in your office for when you come to work if you don’t have anyone to watch her” I tell her.

“Thank you. It’s hard to part from her” Jade said and I nod. I feel eyes on me and I turn to see Xander looking at me and then at the baby. Daisy gestures for Xander to open his arms and he looks at her before putting his arms up. Jade and I walk closer to Daisy and Xander.

“May I ask you something since you’re a guy?” Daisy asks.

“Go ahead” Xander says.

“Do you think the man should always make the first move or is it okay if the woman makes the first move?” Daisy asks and I stop as if I’m looking at something I like.

“What do you mean?” Xander asks.

“There’s this guy that I like and I can tell he likes me too, but he hasn’t approached me yet. This weekend we have a fall dance at school and I was thinking of making the first move, but I’m a bit nervous” Daisy says.

“He’s probably just nervous too. Sometimes the female has to make the first move to break the ice. I don’t see anything wrong with that” Xander says and I turn my back to him to hide my smile.

“Thank you for your advice sir” Daisy says. I get serious again and turn only to see Xander right next to me. I stop since the baby is still in my arms. He looks down at the baby before looking at me.

“Do you have his measurements?” Jade asks Daisy.

“Yes ma’am” Daisy replies and give Jade the measurements. Jade starts looking around and pulling things off the shelves.

“Alright sir. Here is a suit and a white button down shirt. The changing rooms are over there” Jade said giving Xander the clothes. Xander goes and change before coming back down. My heart pounds hard in my chest. He looks delicious. I feel a throb down south that makes me squirm a little. I clear my throat feeling Xander’s eyes on me.

“Looks good” I said. He nods and goes back inside.

“Get me some more and different color shirts. I will also need a tuxedo” I tell Jade and she nods. I then turn to Daisy.

“Daisy, I couldn’t help to over hear your conversation with Xander. You said you have a fall dance at your school?” I asked.

“Oh, yes, ma’am. It’s something new for college since the students have asked for it” Daisy replies.

“Do you have something to wear for that day?” I asked her.

“Not yet” she blushes.

“Well, you may pick anything from the store to wear for that day including the shoes” I tell her.

“What? No, I can’t” she said.

“Yes, you can. It’s my thank you for being so kind” I tell her and she looks at Jade who nods.

“Thank you. You are your boyfriend are very kind” Daisy smiles and runs off. I feel the heat of someone behind me and I knew it was Xander. Jade comes back with the clothes and Daisy comes back with what she wants. I pay for their stuff before handing Jade her baby.

“Thank you for the clothes Miss Moore” Daisy says.

“Thank you for being so kind. I hope you have fun at the dance” I smile before looking at Jade.

“I will contact the person I told you about. If she accepts her name is Pearl. If not then I will find you someone else” I tell her and she nods. Xander and I leave the store and I’m already starting to get hungry.

“About what Daisy said. I’m sorry I didn’t correct her” I said to Xander.

“It doesn’t bother me” Xander said.

“But it might bother your girlfriend” I said and suddenly stopped. I didn’t thought about any of that. I asked this man to move in with me and be my personal bodyguard without knowing if he has a girlfriend, fiancé, or wife.

“Relax, I’m single” Xander said close to my ear as if knowing what I was thinking about. Goosebumps appear all over my body.
