A week later, Dorian called me for help again in the store. Caesar’s Flame was back in the house, along with their groupies. Who knew where they found so many people? Still, it was good for business. I helped a few customers with instrument selection and sheet music. I brushed my hair back from my face and glanced around furtively to see if I could spot Chuck. I hadn’t cut the strands in months. Chuck had liked to run his hands through the curls. No reason for that anymore, though, was there? Finally, I spotted him with an arm around yet another twink’s waist. They seemed to be very cozy. Briefly, I caught his eye, but immediately looked away. I moved on to the next person who needed help and kept on like that until Dorian said he had things under control.
