Silence. The silence was the only thing that rang in my ears besides the engines of the plane running constantly to keep us at the high altitude we were traveling at. My ears picked up the smallest of movements since any sound could be heard under the cloaked silence inside the plane.
Standing up I began to stride over to the restroom that was just a few steps down the length of the plane. Snatching the attention of Harry I felt his eyes on me immediately after the movement of standing up from my chair. Inwardly rolling my eyes at his high alertness, from the outside I acted as if I didn't even notice his small gesture.
"Where do you think you're going?" Harry's mouth parted before I was able to make it the full distance to the bathroom.
Again I rolled my eyes and sighed inwardly at his overprotective state. There was only so many places to go inside a plane and judging by my direction it wasn't hard to assume. Despite Harry's beautiful outward appearance, his personality was that of harsh and one that didn't match what he appeared from the outside.
"I just need to use the ladies room," I informed him looking over my shoulder slightly before returning my gaze to the door I was headed for. I needed to get away from Harry's tense and angry energy that was already starting to wear on me. How could one person stay in such an intense state constantly?
Shutting the bathroom door behind me I came face to face with the mirror. Sighing at what I looked like I did my best to fix my hair that had become tangled from sleep. Straightening out my yellow pleated shirt and light navy sweater I tugged at the clothing to clean myself up from the wrinkled mess. Combing my fingers through my hair and wiping away any imperfection due to the smudged makeup from sleep I found myself looking like me again.
The alone time I had was short lived when a hard fist pounded on the door before entering. Harry came in and quickly shut the door behind him causing me to back up in the already small space. Our body basically up against each other bringing me a whole lot of discomfort when I looked at Harry with a confused expression.
"What are you-" I wasn't surprised that I was cut off by Harry upon asking him a question. In the short time of getting to know him, one thing was for certain he was the king of interruptions.
"Listen to me, we need to get out of here now. Do you understand me?" His breath was hot against the already climbing temperature of the bathroom. Face to face he bore into my eyes never letting off the intensity he carries with him.
"What do you mean?! Harry, we are in the middle of our flight!" I rose my voice a little bit above a normal speaking voice.
"Thanks for the information Captain Obvious, that doesn't change the fact that we need to get out of here now." His green eyes reflecting urgency that was easy to see. I couldn't help but admire the brilliant color his eyes held, I had never seen that shade of green before and it was beautiful.
"Why?" I felt his hand wrap around my wrist like a watch hearing my question.
"This flight has been compromised. We need to get out now." He yanked on my wrist that had pulled me out of the bathroom with ease.
"How are we supposed to do this?" I asked him already nervous about the answer he was most likely going to give. I already knew my heart rate was climbing clear from when Harry's body was pressed against mine.
"We are jumping." He stated simply in a whisper unlocking all the safety equipment that was stored away in the plane's different compartments.
I gulped feeling the fear begin to swallow me up. I couldn't jump out of this plane, I would have a heart attack before I even reached the ground. Not only did I carry around my childish fear of the dark but I also wasn't fond of heights. Having to jump out of the sky only escalated my fear when I saw Harry suiting up with the proper equipment, with his guns tucked away in his pants he burned his eyes into mine.
"Harry no I can't..." Tears pricked my eyes but didn't yet fall. My anxiety striking my body as I started into a spasm of shaking that I couldn't control.
"You are if you want to live." Harry came over to me and began to strap me against him. Body growing tense from the moment when we would be free falling. I shut my eyes and listened to the sound of zippers tightening against my torso. Back against Harry, I let his hands roam around my body to adjust restraints and straps.
Moving with him, I saw him reach for his guns and tuck them away in various compartments within the suit. Weapons being stowed away I gulped down the ticking clock that set in my mind.
"Please don't make me do this." I couldn't tell if Harry would feel my heart trying to rip it's way out of my rib cage with the way I heard it beating in my ears.
"Hey!" Another man dressed in a uniform called when Harry opened up the emergency hatch. The man looked as if he were the pilot or co-pilot from his uniform. A hat covered his hairline and shaded his brown eyes that widened with intensity. The harsh winds of the outside blowing furiously and escalating the tension between the three of us.
Pulling a gun on us the both of us I flinched from the action. Knowing Harry had multiple weapons on hand I waited for his next move, hoping he had this entire situation under control.
"Don't move!" The pilot shouted in the thundering wind that overpowered much of his loud voice. I stood frozen under his gun not even daring to blink under the pressure. Harry still not saying a word stood behind me moving his hand down my thigh slowly.
All at once Harry slipped a pistol out from an exposing pocket and shot the man that held us at gunpoint. Aiming perfectly under pressure, the bullet pierced the man's skull with the bullet killing him upon contact. The bullet making a hole in the center of the pilot's forehead I watched as the blood drained from the entry wound until he fell backward dead.
Screaming from the sight I heard another gunshot towards a desk that held Harry's computer. Obviously, he didn't want any information about our whereabouts exposed and would erase our trail before exiting the plane. Before the other pilot could make an appearance Harry soon dropped from the stabilized plane we had resided on.
The wind letting my hair run wild I could see the both of us dropping in altitude. I begged for someone to hold me but I knew Harry would never give me comfort like that. Too shocked to even cry or scream we continued to free fall while I still felt Harry against my back, one of his arms wrapping around me.
I hated feeling completely free and suspended like this, it was something I couldn't describe. I didn't find it exhilarating or any other adjective others used to describe an experience like this. A resistance tugged on the both of us, looking up I realized it was the parachute. Making sure we came down at a steady rate my heartbeats slowly declined to a less panicked state.
Harry's arm peeled away from my torso he hugged when the ground was only within a few inches from us. Running to keep up with returning to the ground, my legs became jelly when I did my best to keep up with Harry. Falling to the ground and taking him with me from our attachment I heard a grunt from him when he landed on top of me, my face planted into the ground.
Turning over Harry unharnessed me from him and let me roll into the field we had landed in. My body was full of adrenaline that still pulsed through my legs and arms. I laid looking up at the sky we had just fallen from, the field was quite unlike the loud winds that accompanied us in the sky.
"Get up! We have to keep going." Harry snapped unbuckling his own harness and encouraging me to do the same. Not paying much attention to him I took control of my heavy breathing once again, calming my own self down by taking in the fresh air.
"Are you hard of hearing?!" Harry demanded bending down to take the straps of my harness, pulling me up with his raw strength. Pulling me from the ground he stood me up in my feet letting go of the harness once my feet were planted on the ground.
Not paying mind to any of his degrading comments I stood completely still, I was still in shock from the overwhelming event I had participated in. I couldn't speak a word or respond to Harry when he spoke to me, my throat was clogged.
"I see you can't do anything for yourself huh?" Harry observed my frozen state and commented. Any opportunity he had to say something about what I was doing wrong he would take it. Taking the straps that sat on my shoulders, once again he began to strip me of the harness that had once been attached to him. Shedding the weight of the buckles and zippers, Harry emptied out the weapons he placed within my suit.
I watched him tuck the gun behind into his black jeans and white button down shirt that still looked perfect and not at all like we had just gone skydiving. I didn't even dare to look at my own appearance, knowing that most likely I looked as though I had been through extremes.
"Well, are you coming? We have to keep moving!" Harry warned me obviously getting angrier by the minute that I was unresponsive to him. Deciding that I should follow him like he instructed I followed behind him knowing that if I walked side by side, he would only glare at me.
The sun was moving behind the clouds, giving off a pink and purple sunset. My feet were growing tired and ached for a break but Harry would never allow that. I had calmed down quite a bit prior to the skydiving and had time to calm myself internally.
I didn't dare open my mouth to Harry about my aching feet but it felt as though they were throbbing with every step. My gaze moved to the back of Harry's head where tousled curls moved in the small breeze of the summer air of Paris. His legs making long strides that told me to keep up with him, causing me to walk faster than him from the lack of long legs. At my full height, I stood at a mere 5'5 although this never really bothered me. I didn't mind being a little shorter however, most of the time it has played to my advantage in getting to places others couldn't.
Stopping in my tracks I watched as Harry continued on without me until he noticed the sound of my footsteps had stopped. Turning his head to mine he glared about to part his lips. Already suiting myself up for the ridicule I was about to be fired with I looked back at him.
"What are you doing?" He asked me annoyed that he was going to have his conversation.
"My feet are killing me, we have been walking for hours. I need to take a break." I began to take off the black pumps that had brought me to a higher height. My feet ached from the contact with the road we had been walking to the side of. I sat down with my legs to the side making sure nothing was exposed that shouldn't be.
"Put your damn shoes back on and get up!" Harry demanded coming closer to me. A frown on his lips and eyebrows furrowed, the same look he always carried on his face.
"Harry my feet hurt! I need to take a break for a few minutes." I was keeping my breathing even to help aid in not crying under his hard glare. His looks were enough to make you feel a whole different kind of intimidation.
Turning my head to lights that became blinding against the darkening sunset, headlights came into full view. Putting my arms up to shade my eyes from the light intensity I watched as the car pulled to the side of the road a few inches from us.
Harry turned away from me going closer to the window that the car had rolled down. Standing up I moved a little closer to listen into what Harry was about to discuss with the person in the car.
"Semble que vous avez besoin d'un tour, où allez-vous?" The voice I distinguished as male spoke kindly from inside the car. I knew French and knew this man was no threat to us if Harry played his cards right we could have a ride the rest of the way to Paris.
Harry pulled a gun from his waistband and aimed it on the man that only offered a helping hand. I saw him move quick when he did this.
"Harry!" I shouted afraid for the life being threatened by Harry. Coming closer to him I saw the frightened man that put his hands up to show he was no threat to us. "Stop!"
I shut my eyes hearing the gun go off from Harry pulling the trigger without a second thought. It was as if this was second nature to Harry.
"Why would you do that?! He wasn't a threat to us!" Tears filled my eyes and began to spill out visually for Harry to see. I looked at the man who was shot between the eyes, no longer breathing.
"Everyone is a threat princess. Now get in!" Harry opened up the car door and handled the dead body by taking him to the ditch to the side of the road that we had walked by for miles. Getting into the passenger seat I watched Harry throw the dead body almost effortlessly.
A chill running up my spine from the entire exchange. Rage built higher into my already aching muscles, why would Harry do this to an innocent man that was trying to help us?
"That was completely uncalled for! What the hell-" I started into Harry already knowing that it wasn't a good idea. The engine of the older car roaring when Harry put it into drive.
"Don't raise you voice at me!" Harry's voice raising to my already escalating one. I took in a deep breath swallowing what little I had against him, I knew fighting was pointless and trying to get him to see that what he did was wrong was also pointless.
Leaning my head against the window we sat in silence. My body was growing tired my eyes began to flutter fighting the sleep that I ached for. I couldn't get the man being shot out of my head, how was something like that so easy for Harry? He had no regard for human life, excluding my own and himself. If this was only day two I didn't know what was ahead for me.
