"Seriously, stop looking at me like that" I growled, baring my teeth in warning at Jasper, "It's like I am a criminal overnight" I muttered begrudgingly, crossing my arms against my chest.
Jasper raised his hands in the air in surrender, "I can't help it" A sheepish smile tugging at the corners of his lips.
"I hate it when I am in the center of attention" I grumbled, glaring daggers at him. My sharp gaze made him look away instantly, "Sorry, okay. I didn't mean to be rude but just to let you know, I am having a shitty week and I would appreciate a little less attention" I continued, after taking a deep breath.
We were actually on a plane right now to attend Elise and the King's wedding. All through this flight, I have been frowning at literally nothing because my father warned me to not leave his sight throughout our stay in the castle.
I didn't have a problem with that but still, it bugged me. Why should be grounded like this when I didn't do anything. It felt unfair to me.
I hate that I have to give up a huge part of my freedom for this.
"Who do you think it might be?" Kyle butted in, snapping my attention to him.
I looked at the front at my father who has been watching me the entire time like I would vanish into a thin air at any time. I smiled at him to which he didn't return, "I think it is associated with the vampire I tricked for Elise the other day" I mind linked Kyle and Jasper at once, wanting my father to know the least as he possibly can about this matter.
I looked to the side at Kyle and he was studying my face seriously, "You're hiding something" He concluded, "If you don't tell us what happened, we can't vouch for you with dad" He continued when I looked away from him.
He was right. I have to tell someone about this and I knew starting with my brothers seemed like a great idea, "Fine. I met two vampires recently. One is dark-haired and another one is blonde. I thought they were just nomads passing through so I didn't make a big fuss about it-"
"You met two f*****g vampires near our pack?!" Jasper interrupted me.
I tried not to glare at him, "Please let me finish. I would say I met them. I just saw them. The next day, I took a run in the forest and I saw them again and it happened a few times until they started to taunt me" I kept my facial expression as neutral as it can be as I know my father was still watching me.
He hated it when the three of us have a conversation in our minds.
"They would make me chase them" I recalled the times they made my wolf chase them, "Then they would just disappear after knowing I am getting tired. This happened for a few days until two days ago, they decided to drop some hints about they are"
Kyle was unconsciously leaning in towards me, invested in what I was saying. From the corners of my eyes, I saw Jasper too watching me with curious eyes. I was about to warn them to act cool when our father spoke for the first time since we boarded this flight, cutting the silence sharply, "Are you there having an internal conversation?" He asked, narrowing his eyes on the three of us suspiciously.
I coughed, "Nope. We didn't" I shook my head, keeping my eyes intelligently away from him so he wouldn't catch me lying.
My mother who was reading a book looked up at us, "Kids, I told all of you many times that I don't appreciate a conversation without me when I am here" She scolded, putting the down on her lap, "Spit it out. What you three were talking about?"
"Don't tell them yet. I don't want to get them worried unnecessarily" I warned my brothers, clearing my throat.
My mother gasped, pointing her index finger at me, "Look, Xander. Her eyes were glazed a second ago. These three are definitely having a secret conversation!" She exclaimed, crossing her arms against her chest and watching us in disapproval.
"I just told them I read the book you were reading the other day and it was pretty interesting," I said, coming up with a half-truth half-lie. I did enjoy that book a few days ago.
My mother frowned, "Since when did you start reading my books? I didn't notice it was missing from my shelf" She c****d her head to the side.
"I didn't have any new book to read so I picked up yours. Particularly that one because it looked interesting"
My mother still didn't look satisfied with my answer, "Okay. But why are you telling that to your brothers? It is not like they are bookworms. I never saw them taking out a book to read, ever" She asked me, catching the right point this time.
Jasper and Kyle watched me as I struggled to come up with an answer for that, "I uh, I was- I don't know. I just thought I should let them know. It was starting to get boring so I thought I can talk about something while we are here" I was actually proud of myself for keeping this intact still.
"You could have started a conversation-"
"That's what I did" I interrupted her.
My mother glowered at me, "Out loud, I meant"
"You looked so invested into the book so I didn't want to disturb" I smiled at her innocently.
"You really think you can get away with lying, Sophia?" My father asked suddenly.
My eyes widened and for a second, I couldn't come up with a proper sentence to reply to that. I just stared at him with wide eyes, praying to the moon goddess to make him distracted just this once so I can dodge this.
"She was talking about how she wanted a little more freedom at the wedding this weekend" Kyle finally spoke up. My father's eyes left mine to land on Kyle's, "She wanted to have some fun with the girls" He added.
My father's eyes shot back to me again, "You know I am doing this for your safety, Sophia" He said, his eyes visibly softening.
"But this is King Arthur's Kingdom, dad. I don't think anyone can barge in there and take me away that easily" I pointed out, using the opportunity to get what I want.
My father looked at my mother and they two had some internal conversation, "I thought you guys don't like it when we leave you out in a conversation" I said, making them look at me again, "Just to let you know we feel the same too. We want to be included" I said, pointing at my brothers.
My parents looked at me incredulously, "We are the homebody here. We make the rules" They said before their eyes glazing again.
I sighed and looked at my brothers, "Thanks" I said, appreciating their help.
Kyle didn't say anything in return but Jasper shook his head, "He is going to find out about it soon" Jasper warned me.
I know he will find out about it but I just hoped it would be much later. I'd prepare to give him an explanation while he still doesn't know about this. Or that is how I am comforting myself.
"Okay, you can be as you were before at the castle but you have to tell me at once if you're in trouble," My father said, resuming our conversation again.
I was over the moon, "Yes, I will!" I said, a small smile tugging at the corners of my lips, "I will not get in trouble but if I did you will be the first one to know. I promise!"
My father smiled, "Okay, then. Everything is settled"
I couldn't help but smile through the rest of our flight and when we landed at the private airstrip, I was literally bouncing up and down in excitement, "God, you're behaving like it is your wedding. Tone down your excitement, will you?" Kyle seemed like he was irritated but his eyes were amused.
Of course, my mother heard this.
"She said she didn't want to find her mate now" My mother stated in an emotionless tone.
I frowned, "Mom" I warned her. I didn't want her to bring up this subject with my father here. It felt oddly embarrassing.
"Is it my eyes or are you really blushing?" Jasper looked baffled.
"I am embarrassed, Jasper" I corrected him.
Before he can open his mouth to say something, we heard tires screeching against the road so we all looked up in the direction of that noise to see two black SUVs coming towards our way, "Looks like our ride is here" I said, picking up my bag.
What I didn't expect was the King himself to be there to fetch us. I nearly dropped the bag I was holding when he stepped out from the driver's seat, "Hi Sophia!" He greeted me like we were best friends, "Nice to see you here again, Alpha Xander and Luna Irina" He greeted my parents formally.
I was still shell-shocked by his casual behavior that it took me a second to remember the royal protocol. I immediately bowed my head in respect, "Hi, your highness. It is good to see you too" I greeted, straightening my back when King Arthur allowed me to. The king then went to my parents to greet them.
"Oh Sophia, you don't have to be formal," Elise said and I looked at the car to see her stepping down from the car, "After everything you have done for us, I think you can relax a little" She grinned at me, coming to my side at once to give me a hug, "I missed you so much," She said, pulling away from me just enough to see my face.
I grinned at her, "I missed you too. Congratulations. I am so excited about your wedding!" I squealed in delight, "I have so many things planned out for your bachelorette!"
"And I hope you don't go overboard with that" My father warned me, "Elise, come give me a hug dear. I missed you so much!"
Elise let go of me and skipped towards my father while I eyed king Arthur, debating if I should tell him about the vampires or not, "Is there something you want to say, Sophia?" The King asked me as if he read my mind.
I could feel everyone's eyes on me so I just shook my head at him. I will tell him about this when my parents are not around, "No, your highness" I said out loud, remembering it rude to not speak when the king asked a question.
"Then we should get back to the castle then," The king said, "You did say you have plans right?" He looked at me pointedly.
It seems like he knows I have something to say.
I nodded my head, "Yes, hour highness" I smiled politely.
