"You seem quiet since you get here" Elise noted, filling up the glass with some drinks and walking towards me, "It is almost worrying. Is something is wrong or it is just the jet lag?" She asked me, handing the glass to me.
I muttered a small thank you under my breath while accepting the glass, "I think I am just a little tired" I answered her, taking a sip, "It has been an eventful week"
Elise didn't look satisfied with my answer, "Are you in trouble? You know you can tell me anything and I won't tell another soul" She pressed, putting her hand on top of mine which was resting on the sofa.
I smiled. I knew she wouldn't tell anyone but if I told her about this, she will blame herself for what happened and I didn't want that. Elise is finally happy with King Arthur and it would be cruel to disturb her happiness with this new problem, "It is nothing, Elise. So what are your plans for the coming two days?" I asked changing the subject smoothly.
Elise smiled, revealing her dimples, "I don't really have any plans. I thought you had some!" She chuckled softly, "Eleanor said she wanted to have some drinks tonight and maybe watch some movie" She shrugged, taking a sip of her drink.
"Speaking of Eleanor, where is she? I haven't seen her since I got here" My eyes darted around the area to see I can spot her, "I thought she would be here by now"
"They are here in the castle. Actually, a few families that are close to the King and I are the first ones to arrive and they were given rooms to stay in the castle itself" Elise informed me, "I think Eleanor stepped out for a bit with Nadine to buy some accessories for me to wear on my wedding day"
"We are here!" We heard Nadine's excited voice right when Elise finished her sentence, "Oh my god, Sophia! It has been ages since the last time I saw you!" Nadine squealed in delight, genuinely excited to see me here.
I couldn't help but smile at her. Nadine is one of the recent friends that I made and even though I known her only for a few months now, it felt like I know her more than half of my life, "I missed you too, Nadine" I said, putting down the glass and standing up to give her hug, "Looks like you did quite a lot of shopping" I noted pulling away from her to look at the bags she was holding in one hand.
Nadine chuckled softly and shook her head, "This is not for me. It's for Elise to wear on her wedding night" Her voice grew cheeky and she waggled her eyebrows at Elise suggestively making Elise turn crimson under her mischievous eyes.
"Nadine!" Elise complained, looking around to see if anyone heard them.
"You're a grown woman is, there is nothing to be embarrassed about" Eleanor joined us, a few more bags clutched in her hands, "Sophia, it is nice to finally have you here. I thought you will only be here on the day of the wedding" She said sarcastically when her eyes fell on me.
I smiled at the three of them sheepishly, "I tried to get here as early as I can. We had some issues in Black Alder and my father was- no, my father is still a little grumpy about it" I corrected myself, "But I am here now and we can still have some fun together, right?".I asked, looking at them one by one.
"Is everything okay?" Elise asked me again, concern evident in her eyes.
I nodded my head, "It is now. You don't have to worry about it" I shook my head.
"What's wrong?" Eleanor pressed. I looked at Eleanor who also seemed worried.
"Just some trespassers" I kept it short, not wanting to elaborate on it. It will only make Elise and Eleanor feel guilty.
The ladies exchanged a glance before relaxing a little, "Well, why don't we take this into a more private area" Nadine smiled, raised her hand to shake the bags in front of Elise, "If you want me to open them here, I can. I don't mind really-"
"It's okay, we can get to your room to see it" Elise interrupted Nadine, sounding embarrassed and shy.
"Then what are we waiting for? Let's get going!" Nadine hooked her hand with Elise's and Eleanor did the same with mine, "Oh it feels great to have my whole comrade back here" Nadine added when we started walking together towards her room, erupting a wave of chuckles from the rest of us.
Once we got to Nadine's room, Eleanor and Nadine handed Elise the bags and told her to try them on first. Elise at first looked a little uncomfortable but then disappeared into the closet to change, "You know, the last time Elise was here in my room, we stole some whiskey bottles from the cellar and drank our night away" Nadine said conversationally, "The morning after isn't that pleasant"
I grinned at her while Eleanor gasped in disbelief, "I bet King Arthur forbid you to go down to the cellar anymore" I guessed. For some reason, it felt like I can predict what the King would do or what he was thinking.
Well, not every time but at some moments only. That's how I got to know he is Elise's mate way before Elise knew about that.
"I never thought my sister liked drinking whiskey" Eleanor mused, still in shock.
Nadine giggled, "Oh she was reluctant at first but you know me, right? It was easy to persuade her to drink with me" Nadine winked playfully, "When I woke up the next morning, she wasn't there in my room and I could faintly pick up King Arthur's scent in my room and I knew he took her and I was in trouble" She finished, shaking her head.
We heard Elise walking out from the closet with a red face in sexy black lingerie, "Dang girl, I bet King Arthur wouldn't be able to keep his hands off you when he sees you in this!" Nadine grinned at her, "Go on, try the rest"
Elise shook her head, "I think one is enough. Oh god, these feel so delicate that I am afraid I would tear it" She muttered, turning around, literally sprinting back into the closet again.
We chuckled at her behavior. Elise has always been a shy type since the beginning, "As if the King is keeping his hands to himself now" I grinned, looking at Nadine, "I am happy that she found someone like the King. It comes with a huge responsibility but I think Elise can ace it!"
Eleanor nodded her head in agreement, "She would make the perfect Luna Queen" She said, "I am really proud of her"
I smiled. Eleanor hated Elise in the beginning and Elise completely accepted her hatred with an open heart. Elise is the adopted daughter of Alpha Christian and Luna Tessa. When they brought Elise home to take care of her, Eleanor felt like Elise took away all her attention from her parents and her brother, Ezra.
Not to forget, Elise isn't a wolf but a fox.
Eleanor only accepted Elise as her sister recently, after her a*******n to be precise and they both caught up on everything they missed together in a matter of weeks.
"Who else is already here?" Eleanor asked, snapping my attention back to her. I looked up to see her looking at Nadine expectantly.
"Well, there are quite some families here, Alpha Lucas and his family, they are from the BloodMoon pack" Nadine answered her.
"Oh, I know them. My mother is actually from the Blood Moon pack. I like to visit there when I was younger but when I started to get busy with school, I barely found time to sleep. I should go and visit my grandparents sometimes" I said, hoping I wouldn't forget it. I think it has been ten years since the last time I visited BloodMoon but my grandparents always came to Black Alder to visit us.
Nadine and Eleanor nodded their heads, "Yeah, I heard they have a human Luna" Eleanor said, looking interested.
"They do. Luna Hazel is such an amazing person" I nodded my head in agreement, remembering the compassionate Luna during my childhood visits to BloodMoon.
"Do you know what I heard? Luna Hazel has a handsome son who is now the Alpha of the pack" Nadine grinned, mirth and mischief in her eyes, "People say he looked hot, like really really hot" She continued to gossip.
I did remember playing with Luna Hazel's son and daughter but it has been a long time since I met them so I can't really recall their faces, "You seem really excited about that" I noted, "You think he is your mate?"
Nadine shook her head, the corners of her lips turning down, "Of course not but there is nothing wrong in appreciating beauty isn't it?" She winked, "If he is indeed my mate, then I would show him how lucky he is to be with me" She gushed, her eyes were wistful again.
I couldn't help but chuckle at her while shaking my head, "I guess you can say that"
"I wonder when I will find my mate" Eleanor butted in, "The wait feels like forever"
Nadine threw her a dark look, "You are looking at someone who actually waiting forever to meet her mate"
I cleared my throat, "Honestly, I don't understand why you girls want to meet your mates this fast-"I stopped when Nadine glared at me, "Well except for Nadine. She has every reason to look for a mate now" I smiled sheepishly at her.
Her anger vanished as fast as it came, "Ugh, you girls don't know how it feels like to watch someone be in a relationship. I mean, I don't have any ill intentions towards people who are unconditionally in love with each other but when I realize I can be like that as well- it hurts in here" She said, pointing at her chest.
"Maybe you need to see a cardiologist" I commented.
Eleanor burst out laughing but Nadine scowled at me, "You are killing my buzz" She said, "Oh, I actually forgot about something" She said, getting up and running towards the mini refrigerator in her room.
Elise walked out in the clothes she was wearing earlier, "I don't think drinking is allowed for tonight" She commented when Nadine produced a bottle of tequila from her fridge.
"Oh come on, live a little" Nadine brushed her off, "Eleanor, help me get the glass please"
Eleanor didn't even attempt to decline. If anything she looked eager to get drunk. She sprinted towards where the glasses are lined up and grabbed four glasses from there, "Why do you have so many glasses here?" I asked Nadine, watching her warily.
"I knew that you guys will be here and wanted to prepare everything in here so we could have some fun" Nadine stated coolly, pouring the tequila into the glasses, "Here you go," She said, handing each to everyone.
"This is to remember Elise's last few days as a single person" Nadine raised her glass up in the air, her eyes flickering towards Elise, "I wish you would throw some wedding dust on me so I would find my mate soon" She added making me roll my eyes.
All of us exchanged a glance, there was excitement there in their eyes. I am sure my eyes reflected the same emotions, "Let's get drunk ladies" I said downing the alcohol in a gulp and letting out a hiss, "Woah, that burns" I shook my head.
Elise nodded her head in agreement, "Yes it does. But more please" She asked, putting the glass in front of Nadine.
Nadine grinned and refilled her glass with wicked eyes.
Oh, this is going to be a long night.
