Chapter 26 Marriage and birth Carrington Nikita and I eloped since I refused to leave Russia without her. I called Mason to ask for help with Nikita’s paperwork and explained what I had done. The word f**k flew from Mason’s mouth many times. Yeah, I pissed off, Mason. Mason didn’t enjoy hearing that I ran off and married when he sent me here for business. Mason needs to chill, or he will have a stroke. It should make him happy that I eloped since it’s less money to spend. My elopement disappointed my siblings, and Christine asked if Nikita was pregnant. Leave it to Christine to question marrying someone because you love the person. No, Nikita wasn’t pregnant. After marrying, we had dinner. Dinner was fun until Nikita’s brother showed up and started quarreling with Nikita in Russian. Did you ever listen to Russians argue? It’s interesting because they’re so serious with threats. Since I knew some Russian, I understood bits and pieces of what the argument entailed. Long story short, Nikita’s family disowned her. Schmucks. This news upset her because her face showed it. I refuse to let my wife deal with disappointment. We cut dinner short and retired to the hotel. I comforted Nikita, assuring her that it was us against the world. She doubted me, but I didn’t have any doubts. “I have no family.” Nikita sniffled. I brought over two cups of hot cocoa. “You have family.” I sat down and handed her a mug. She looked at me with furrowed brows. “I’m your family, and I promise to care for you. When we have a family, I’ll care for them, too.” Nikita furrowed her eyebrows even more. “I can’t have babies.” Nikita set her cup down and rushed out of the living room. I got up and walked into the bedroom to find Nikita facing the window. I strolled over to her. “My birth bore me without ovaries. Doctors give me pills to help with menstruation. The doctor told my parents I never have babies.” Nikita cried. It broke my heart to discover her anguish. I pulled Nikita to me. “Okay, so no children.” She glimpsed me. “You want child.” I gave her a reassuring glance. “But I want you more.” Nikita’s eyes held hope. I never thought of not having children, but sometimes you give up a dream when you love someone. I will sacrifice my dream for my love of Nikita. Mason situated the paperwork so that I could return with Nikita. It was that, or I stayed in Russia because I wasn't leaving without my wife. It set us to arrive around when Charles welcomed his child, but we didn’t perceive it would be on Christmas. ***** 3rd person “Charles, wake up.” Maggie shook Charles. “Mmm.” “Charles, the baby is coming.” Charles continued sleeping. “Charles?” Maggie’s water broke, waking Charles from his slumber. “What in the world?” Maggie slid out of bed. “My water broke, you i***t!” A contraction hit Maggie. Charles jumped out of bed. “Why didn’t you wake me?” Maggie glared at him. Yep, Charles was an i***t, and let’s hope his child was more brilliant. “Would you like me to drop the baby here? Get me to the hospital, dumbass!” Another contraction hit. “There’s no need for name-calling.” After that, I can’t repeat what Maggie said because I’m confident she used every curse word out there. Charles got Maggie to the hospital, albeit with a lot of yelling. With all the ranting on the drive to the hospital, I’m sure that youngster will become anxious. ***** Carrington Nikita and I were in the middle of landing when the delivery was going down at the hospital. Mason came to the airport to retrieve us when we landed. My big brother wanted to make sure we made it to the hospital and lecture me about my life’s decisions. While I was busy, Charles dealt with Maggie giving birth. ***** 3rd person “You did this to me, you asshole!” Maggie shook Charles. “I’m sorry, but you enjoyed our moment of insanity! Now, let go of me!” “Get this baby out of me!” Maggie turned into the exorcist. “Then let go!” Maggie released Charles and shoved him away, then reached for the family jewels. “If you ever cheat on me again, I’ll rip off your nuts!” “Mother of God!” Yeah, Maggie forgave Charles, but it didn’t mean she wouldn’t use this information against him in the delivery room. I don’t know if Charles will have any more kids after this time. “I swear to God that I’ll never glance at another woman!” “Maggie, can you release your husband’s manhood so that you can push?” The doctor asked. Maggie released Charles and pushed. Charles cringed while helping Maggie, trying not to cry. Getting the death grip on your manhood sucks, but a cup helps. No offense, but Charles deserved it. Maggie delivered the baby, which was a boy. The nurse took the baby to clean it up. “Okay, I need you to push for the second baby,” the doctor said. “Second baby?” Maggie and Charles asked. “Yes, now push.” A second baby appeared. Maggie pushed, and the second baby arrived, which was a girl. The nurse took the baby to clean her up. The doctor tended to Maggie before taking her to a private hospital room. ***** Carrington Nikita and I arrived to find out my brother- and sister-in-law had twins, shocking Mason and us. We walked into the hospital room to see Charles and Maggie holding the babies, along with my siblings visiting, and everyone stared at us. “Long time no see, family. Meet my wife, Nikita,” I said. “Wife?” Everyone asked. The babies cried. I smiled. Nikita didn’t know what to say. ***** After explaining about Nikita, my family understood, well, somewhat. Geez, you thought that I killed someone when I got married. Why does this surprise people? “So, how did you not realize you were having twins?” I asked. We only knew about the one baby, and I’m not sure how the second one fits into the equation. “Beats me,” Charles said, holding his son. “Who cares? What are the baby’s names?” Nikita asked. Everyone glanced at her. “Sorry, my wife is a little outspoken.” I nodded. “Not outspoken. Anxious.” Nikita’s response revealed her accent. “Well, meet Ryan Matthew Jones and Elena Margaret Jones,” Charles said. “You gave the baby Mom's name?” Mason asked. Charles nodded. Elena was our mother’s name, and that made us smile. “Can I?” Elliot motioned to Elena. That shocked me. “Sure.” Maggie handed Elena to Elliot. He cradled the baby as we discovered sniffling. “Mom would be proud because she loved babies.” Then Elliot spoke to the baby. “You’re special, Elena.” Elliot took our parent’s death hard. He wouldn’t cry at the funeral or talk to anyone afterward, and it took months for Elliot to talk about anything. He refused to discuss our parents. It was a moment that changed everything with all of us. We didn’t realize it, but the twins will change how we conduct ourselves, especially Ryan. I pray the kid doesn’t develop the i***t genes from my brother in the future.
