Chapter 20
A crazy thing called lust
Carrington
I finally got to spend time with Gloria. It had been a while. As soon as we hit the motel room, we lost our clothes. I made love to her repeatedly, making up for a lost time. It had been too damn long.
We took a breather and laid in bed. Gloria laid on my chest as I held her.
“I missed you, Carri.”
“Thanks to my brother Mason, my plans flew out the door like a bird.” I made a fluttering sound with my mouth.
Gloria propped herself up and looked at me.
“Mason signed a truce with the Morgan and Santiago families, so I can’t ask them for help to keep Maurice and his brothers busy.” I sighed.
“It doesn’t matter, Carri. I don’t plan on staying with Maurice.”
I ran my fingers through her hair.
“Maurice thinks because he’s sober that it erases everything that happened between us. He broke his promises to me, and I get tired of listening to him constantly.”
“Then we stick to the plan. When I graduate, we’ll leave and never look back.”
Gloria nodded. I pressed my lips to hers and rolled Gloria onto her back. Then I slid back into her, thrusting inside of her repeatedly. I would make love to her all night long. I couldn’t wait until we left, then we would make love every day. I would show Gloria so much love.
The problem is what we think, and the reality of a situation are two distinct things. You make plans, then they fall apart, leaving you dumbfounded. I will find this out later.

I couldn’t get enough of Carri when we met at the motel room. With Maurice at home and sober, it made seeing Carri difficult. I could meet Carri before when Maurice got drunk or was screwing some w***e.
I knew about Maurice’s extracurricular activities, along with the drinking. I thought I would stay in a terrible marriage until I met Carri. The day I met Carri, I knew he differed from Maurice. Carri didn’t drink, smoke, or drink coffee. I chuckled, knowing he bought coffee and dumped it out. I never told Carri. I didn’t want him to feel ashamed.
Even when we were apart, Carri wasn’t looking at another woman. I can tell with the way he makes love to me. Plus, he says how horny he is, and his hand gets tired. That thought made me giggle.
The s*x with Carri was unbelievable. He does things to me that no guy has ever done. Plus, Carri makes me scream his name every single time. With Maurice, I would find excuses not to have s*x. Then I would take care of my needs. People would disagree with my choices, but I didn’t care because I was happy.
The minute Maurice announced that he was leaving for business, I played my part. I functioned as the dutiful wife, sad to see him go. I waited an hour after Maurice left to meet Carri.
Sometimes, we didn’t make it to the motel and parked in a secluded area. Our bodies craved each other, and the s*x was phenomenal. I was ready to leave with Carri and start a life together.
One day, I came home from the grocery store, and I walked into the kitchen and almost dropped my bags of food. I planned to meet Carri later but didn't realize Maurice had come home early from his trip.
“Did I surprise you?” Maurice held a bouquet in front of him.
“Yes.”
Maurice’s presence didn’t surprise me but shocked me. Maurice walked towards me. “I wanted to come home to my girl. I hate leaving constantly. I don’t want you to feel lonely.” Maurice stood in front of me.
Trust me. I’m not lonely. You can leave anytime now.
Maurice leaned and whispered into my ear. “A little birdie mentioned you have been staying busy while I leave. We need to fix that.”
My eyes widened.
Maurice leaned back. “I didn’t get sober so that my wife won’t have s*x with me. I should remind you of your duties.”
I looked at Maurice, horrified. I didn’t care if he got sober, and I didn’t want him to touch me. I made a mistake by refusing Maurice, and he unleashed his anger on me. I endured a severe beating from Maurice.
Maurice finished his punishment with a warning. “If I find out you let another man touch you, I’ll kill you, you f*****g whore.” Then he spat on me, and Mateo must have told Maurice.
That moment made me determined to leave and never look back. The problem was someone would stop me.

I was getting ready to meet Gloria and left the house. On my way to the motel, I stopped, noticing Marco with Maximilian. s**t. If they’re here, so is Maurice, and that means Gloria couldn’t meet me.
I changed course and walked to Kate’s bakery as both followed me. Where the hell was Elliot when I needed his psychotic ass?
I reached the bakery when the i***t brothers stopped me.
“Oh, look, who it is,” Maximilian told Marco.
“Well, if it isn’t Maxi pad and Marco Polo. Shouldn’t you idiots be doing time?” I asked.
Max and Marco glared at me. What? It was an honest question.
“I would be careful if I were you,” Marco said.
“Do you want to do this? Because it would thrill me to oblige and provide you with a beat down?” I smirked.
While the i***t brothers kept me busy, the third i***t brother hit me from behind, catching me off guard. Three against one wasn’t a fair fight. I defended myself the best that I could, but it didn’t work. Then someone screamed.
I spat out blood as Mickey dropped with a knife sticking out of his leg. Another blade flew past me and landed on Max’s shoulder as Marco ran off like a chicken s**t that he is.
I grabbed my side, rising to my feet. Elliot walked over and yanked a knife out of Mickey, then out of Max. They screamed like little bitches as Elliot wiped off his blades on them. He helped me back to the house.
“I almost had the i***t brothers.”
Elliot arched an eyebrow. “You didn’t have s**t. You were busy getting your ass beat.”
“Semantics.”
He rolled his eyes. My brother might be a psycho, but he had my back. No one matched Elliot’s loyalty, and it will come in handy later in life.
After that night, I healed and didn’t see Gloria for a while, but it wouldn’t be the last time I would see her. We played with fire, and it will burn us, resulting in a secret I’ll find out about later.
No matter how hard you hide a secret, they don’t remain a secret. Our indiscretion will cause a more significant issue that wouldn’t prepare either of us, causing a deadly altercation, and someone will take the blame.
