It’s been two days since I’ve been holed up in the cave of healing, a name I've given to my temporary rock-dwelling, granted unto me by the Fae's whom I’m now entirely sure are Dwarves. The kind of dwarves mentioned in the snow white’s fairytale.
I’ve been kept under lockdown for 48hours due to the poison which has now been cleared away from my system. They had to make long cuts along vital points so I could bleed out and get the poison out, until Katrina could heal me and seal up my wounds.
When that was done, I was left in a sleep induced coma and constantly fed some kind of rejuvenating potion called Lµväêx. A potion made by Katrina from some magic herbs she found in the mountains, I don’t know what mixture she put inside the damn thing but it was not a rejuvenating potion. Instead, every time that thing passed down my throat, I felt my energy deplete as my stomach tightens with the need to throw up.
Thankfully, I didn’t have to put up with the disgusting liquid for long before I began to get better on my own.
I’ve gotten a lot of information these past two days from pretty much everyone about a few subjects. Like, we’re currently hiding out among the Dwarves in their forest-dwelling located on a secluded piece of land on the mountains within the Seelie Kingdom.
Their clan dwells in a village out of the Seelie’s Queen watch, and just a couple of miles from the moors which surrounds the Seelie borders, past those borders lays the Kingdom of the Unseelie’s and I’m told we’re going to be travelling in disguise as we pass through those lands. Because the fae’s that abode there, are not of the friendliest kind.
The dwarves currently breaking fae law by hiding us, are family to Kimmy. Kimmy was cursed and enslaved by a dark enchantress centuries ago which is why her appearance differs greatly from the rest. Apparently, Katrina’s mother had been kind enough to save Kimmy from her former Mistress. She wasn’t able to break the curse set by another witch, but she was able to break Kimmy’s enslavement contract and as a Fae, Kimmy became bound through the laws of her people, to pay back a debt of gratitude. Which is why she and her clan have done their best to help us in whatever mission Katrina’s has dragged me into.
Besides that, I also learnt the dwarves are one of the oldest fae’s to come into existence when the first Oriental Dragons ventured from their home in the realm of Lĭætan. Every immortal creature to exist, were born from the magic these dragons left behind in this realm when they first came upon this world.
Which is why Dragon’s rule at the top of the hierarchy with no contest. Every immortal bow to their kind, though some do so grudgingly than with respect. For example, the Dwarves and Dragons have an unacknowledged rivalry for as long as anyone can remember. As great miners of gems, I'm told the grudge started between the two race when only a quarter of the gold Dwarves mined annually were allocated to their race.
While the rest, are shipped off to the Kingdom of Oren. For Dragons as well are great lovers and hoarders of gold just as much as Dwarves. Dwarves mostly use the gold for their artistic talent of making and desiging intricate jewelry popularly sold among all six Kingdoms of Edora. But because their stock is low and customer base very large, much of their work has to be done in low quality. Which is something they apparently find to be a disgrace and injustice on their kind.
Then there’s the information I got from Candy about her kind, the nymphs popularly known as mermaids among humans. Fun fact, there are two types of Mer Folk among the Fae's. The water nymphs and the Sirens.
The water nymphs are sea creatures segregated into separate clans just like minor Fae’s, and each clan is distinguished by their appearance. But unlike Water Nymphs, Sirens live on land though these lands are usually surrounded by water, and they don’t have fins but black feathered wings. While Water Nymphs or Spirits as they preferred to be called live among the Seelie’s, a few clans from their kind, designed by the darkness they chose to carry in their hearts and Siren’s reside in Unseelie Realm. It was a little bit of a shock to know Katrina had lied and told me Candy, a Siren, is part of the Seelie Fae rather than Unseelie Fae.
I confronted her about it when she came to offer me a meal at night and, with a sheepish look she shrugged. “I thought you’d be uneasy being around her if you knew, I mean just look how you react to Troy.”
“And how do I react to your boyfriend exactly?”
“Oh, I don’t know. Standoffish, barely looking or talking to him. I mean, you seem to get along so well with Gavin and Candy, you’ve even become less leery of Kimmy. Why not Troy?”
“Well, excuse me for being a complete b***h to your boyfriend Katrina. It’s all my fault,” I say sarcastically, snapping in irritation. “In case you forget it takes two to tango. Your precious Troy is not so better either at being conversational. Sure, I distance myself from him, but it has nothing to do with who he is. I just naturally feel uneasy in his presence, besides, he doesn’t exactly make the effort to get to know me either so why am I the only one getting the third degree?”
“He’s always been an aloof person okay; he doesn’t react well with strangers and that’s mostly because he feels awkward around them. As for your unease, everyone feels that way around him. He comes from a long line of pure Dark Elves, despite being a changeling he’s still a royal born. It’s an instinct to be cautious around the Elven kind, no one can help it. Not even me. But I just feel like, if you wanted to get to know him you would have put in a little effort.”
Sighing, I ended our argument that day with pouting silence. It’s easier to get along with everyone else because of their personalities, Kimmy appears motherly to me and at times she reminds me of mine. So, it’s been easy to get over my vainness and look past her curse. With Gavin, he’s simply a sweet and caring guy who tries to take care of everyone.
Though he might act like the playful, immature type, he’s more than that. And as for Candy, she’s nothing like the malevolent creatures Katrina described. Her hair, cheerful disposition, and kind heart are a big contrast to what her blood identifies her as.
But for Troy, he’s just a ball of dark energy I neither have the energy or will to brighten.
Call me a b***h, but that’s just how I feel.
