As the marching footsteps grow closer, I begin to shake with fear. They’re now outside the door, and I’m afraid for not only my own safety, but for Nick’s as well. But I can’t get his attention to come hide with me at this point without giving away our position to the army outside. My heart sinks as I hear the barn door beginning to slide slowly open. As it does, I hear what sounds like bones cracking and flesh tearing, making my blood run cold in my body. When a familiar, low growl shakes the entire barn, I realize that Nick just transformed into a werewolf to protect us from the intruders. The pegasuses around me begin to neigh loudly in their stalls, stomping their hoofs in fear. “Take down the werewolf!” I hear a voice command. I hear Nick’s wolf form let out a ferocious snarl.
