Sarah.
Alpha Dave stood the moment I mentioned Jackson’s name. I know he might be shocked or think I'm seeing Jackson but that wasn't the case.
“I think he wants to reject me.” I found myself saying again. I needed whatever they were presuming to be gone, if not, they would lay their bitterness on me.
I could see Alpha Dave breathe out heavily and Luna was loosened too. They needed to hear that, and it worked.
“And why hasn't he done that since then?” Alpha Dave asked like I was supposed to know the answer to that or like I was one garbage that anybody would reject instantly.
“I don't know. We have not spoken since then.” I replied.
“He must have been so traumatised.” Alpha expressed.
This would be the second time he was reminding me how traumatised Jackson was to have me as a mate, but I don't care.
Mating was a personal issue, I don't know why our Alpha was interfering in my case.
“Damaging my property, an attempt to sneak out of the pack without informing anyone. There are penalties for an offence. Another Alpha sent a messenger to my pack and you didn't dare report to me?” Alpha Dave circled me as he listed my crimes.
It was a rhetorical question. There was no need for me to answer, so I said nothing.
“Let me have your phone.” Commanded Alpha Dave and I handed it to him. Even though I don't know the correlation between what transpired and what it had to do with my phone.
“You have to work to earn a replacement for the item you damaged.” his fierce baritone voice ordered and I nodded countless times.
After I was finally free, I headed straight to my room. It was midnight and I felt so sleepy and tired. I had skipped dinner and worked tirelessly all because I wanted to see Jackson.
Amidst the odd sounds my stomach made, I slept off.
Jackson.
I have been hearing a lot of rumours about my mate. How cursed she was and how the moon goddess had forgotten me by giving me someone like that.
Aside from what my beta said to me, I didn't know that a lot of people already knew what the situation with her was.
Too many people can't be wrong at once. No, it's not possible.
I am rejecting her. I need to reject her. I am Alpha and I won't have to curse my lineage for a girl.
My wolf wasn’t having it at all but I had to clear him. “She’s cursed. She can't be Luna.”
“You haven't even heard from her. Speak to her first, observe her. We need her.”
Even though I didn't speak further, I couldn't help but think about what my wolf said to me. But what difference would it make?
“You’ll find out.” my wolf echoed again.
At that point, I just realised that I would love to see her again.
I called out to one of the servants and wrote a note to be delivered to her. I know she would be so excited to come. I didn't have the patience to wait till tomorrow.
Once it was ten pm, I arrived at the bar and seated. I scrutinised everywhere but there was nothing like her. If she was here, I would have scented her.
“What is the matter?” I queried Liam who had given me countless calls.
“Fire, the pack, fire.”
I didn't figure out what he was trying to say but I asked the question that any other would have asked.
“Fire outbreak?”
“Yes,” he replied and I stood instantly and exited the bar.
While I left, I looked around for Sarah but she still didn't find her. I wondered how she would feel to arrive and not see me.
I'm the Alpha and it's my responsibility to take care of the pack members, I told myself. It is an emergency, but once I'm done handling it, I will return here.
I got to my pack and arrangements were made to quench the fire. The cause of the fire was unknown and thankfully, it hadn't damaged much.
It took about forty minutes to get everywhere resolved, making sure no one was hurt.
I looked at Liam. “You could have just handled it.” without waiting for him to say a word, I zoomed off again.
Sarah might be out there waiting for me. I didn't have her line, I could have just called her.
It was dangerous for her to be out by this time, I needed to run as fast as I could.
Sadly, Sarah wasn’t there when I arrived, I made sure to check the surroundings but nothing like her.
She must have waited for me, and right now I feel like giving Liam a punch for distracting me with something he could have handled.
I would have to see her in school tomorrow, I concluded before entering my car, which I parked initially and zoomed off.
The next day, I arrived at school on time. This was the first time a lady was making me eager to know her.
I realised I didn't know her class or any other information. I didn't want to wait till football time to speak to her, so I decided to go round the whole school in the form of an exercise.
“Jackson, Professor Ernest sent for you.” A female voice notified me and I truly don't know why the right things happen at the wrong time.
In the professor's office, there were other lecturers there and they had called to remind me and cheer me up about the upcoming competition.
Everyone knew I would win but they still needed to encourage me.
“This is a list of the finals. Though none of them is your equal, you need to put in effort to ensure you emerge the winner.” The professor handed over the list to me.
I looked through it, the same names who always compete with me but never win.
“Noted sir,” I uttered, eager to leave in search of Sarah.
“The whole board of inkstone is rooting for you, Jackson.”
“Thank you, sir,” I replied, before walking out of the office, retaining a smiling face for all the board.
As I walked back into the classroom area to resume my search for Sarah, I saw a lady just walking into the school premises.
Her backview looked familiar and I wondered why someone would be this late to school. Yet, when she spun a bit, I recognized it was our mate.
Why was she this late, did waiting for me last night stress her out? It was unlike me but I knew I needed to clarify her for keep her waiting.
“Hey Sarah,” I summoned, and instantly she found me.
