Tyrell
The big eyes, bold and yet somehow fearful, stared at me without blinking, and I felt faltered for the first time in my life.
It was strange..all the years I've lived, all the people I've met, no one, not even people who are close to me, have been able to stare at me the way she was staring at me.
I honestly felt strange and intrigued as it was something I wasn't used to. I felt like knowing more about this wide-eyed, pale-looking person staring at me with the same level of boldness as her fear.
"So.. let me get this straight, " I said, taking my hands off her neck while still gripping her hands with my other hand, "You want me to kill people for you?"
She nodded her head, still staring at me.
"And you'll feed me? For it?" I asked her to be sure.
"Yes."
Her voice was breathless, almost as if she could barely utter the words out.
It made me interested that someone like this, someone looking innocent like this, would be interested in killing some people.
"Wait... I don't want to kill them," She said quickly, waving her hands and shaking her head as if she had just realized what she said.
"You don't want me to kill them?"
As much as I tried to hide how confused I was at her statement, there was no way to hide it.
Just a few minutes ago, she stared right into my eyes and asked me to kill someone for her, and now she is saying that she doesn't want to kill them again.
Never have I met an individual, one of human offspring, to be as intriguing as this one staring at me with her wavy black hair and deep, soulful eyes?
"No. You won't kill anyone," Her tone sounded so confident despite the quiet tremor underneath it.
I smiled, and for the first time in a long time, things felt interesting and intriguing.
"So, what exactly do you want me to do?" I asked.
It was silly, I know, the fact that I was considering doing it. But the idea of not having to look for someone to ambush just to get blood or not having to want anything appealed to me so badly.
Besides, it's been a while since my life felt so interesting. I might as well take this opportunity and liven it up.
"Can you... Can you let me go?" She whispered, pointing at my hands, holding on to hers.
I stared at her for a while, wondering if I should, but then I knew that she wouldn't be able to escape even if she tried to.
My hand let go of hers, and I stared at her as she winced in pain and massaged the already red hands.
Something hit me in my chest, a sharp pang, kind of like pity, or was it guilt? I don't really know what it was but as I stared at her hands, I suddenly felt sorry, especially when she looked up at me again with those big eyes.
"I didn't mean to hurt you," I found myself saying and pinched myself, but it was already too late... She heard it.
A bright smile lightened up her face as she stared at me, a hint of surprise at my apology in her eyes.
"Oh no, no... it's okay. I understand."
I cleared my throat loudly, feeling awkward. I don't like this, whatever it is that is going on, whatever pull she had to manipulate me in order to apologise.
It was the first time in my life that I was apologising to a human, a stranger at that!
"So what is it about? This deal.."
Even as I spoke, I was having second thoughts. Maybe I shouldn't get involved with this young lady any longer. There was something about her that affected me and made me act like those silly humans.
"I want you to hurt my former bosses, make them suffer, but don't kill them. I want to be able to work at the office again, so we have to make sure that nothing involving me is mentioned. Make them quit their jobs, and then the higher-ups in the company would call for me back."
I snorted and shook my head. She wanted revenge because they fired her? Interesting.
"Why are you laughing?" She asked, sounding offended.
"I just can't believe that you're offering your blood to me so that you'll get your job back. Is that how high the salary is? Enticing enough for you to sacrifice yourself?"
Something in what I said seemed to have affected her, or was it the tone I used?
All of a sudden, tears filled her eyes as she stared at me looking obviously hurt by my statement.
"You won't understand," She choked.
Usually, I would have ignored her and walked away, but then the prospect of having free blood seemed too tempting. Aside from that, something in the way she stared at me kept me fixated in one position, staring back at her.
"Then make me understand."
Gosh, since when did I become so interested in human affairs? Why should I bother knowing why this petite human wants to hurt her bosses?
"I got fired unjustly. They used me! I gave them everything: my time, my energy, and even my social life! I used up everything to make sure that the company bounced back to its feet, but what? What am I left with? Nothing, not even a thank you. Just you're fired. We're done using you."
Tears fell off her face as she spoke, and I found myself intrigued by it. Not that I've never seen a human cry before, hell, I've made countless of them cry several times.
But there was something in the way she managed to combine both anger and pain together.
She was crying, yet it was almost as if she was angry. Like the tears were angry tears and not just the usual weak tears of the other humans.
Funny.
"You know what even annoyed me the most? They could have told me earlier on that they needed my services in order to bring back their company business and save it from bankruptcy. I would have taken a leave from my other job and helped them out. But they had to deceive me!"
Her sky-blue eyes shone under the moonlight with rage and glistering tears. I found myself staring at it longer than I intended.
"Are you even listening to me?" She asked, sounding frustrated.
"I am, yes. I'm just trying to understand everything."
She let out a frustrated sigh and ran her hands through her hair. It appeared that she was no longer terrified of me, instead she seems to have turned me into an ally of sort, pacing around, talking about how unfair it is that she had to quit her job.
".....And they were laughing," She continued, scoffing, " Laughing!! If they had managed to keep a straight face, I wouldn't have felt so annoyed. They enjoyed playing me and I would like for you to pay them back."
She stopped pacing and stared at me.the corner of my lips curled into a smile as I finally reached a conclusion.
I've got nothing to lose.. just more fun and more blood. Besides, I have a feeling she'll be fun.
"So what do you say?" Her eager eyes stared at me, hopefully.
"Well, what's there to lose?"
