Three weeks ago, Henry went out on a social obligation that lasted the whole night. On the way home, they had s*x in the car without protection twice.
To be certain of her suspicions, Ariana decided to test for pregnancy and it her test result was positive. She battled with how best she could break the news to Henry, how would he take it, she never imagined getting rid of the baby. She texted him the result and for weeks, he didn’t respond till he one day stormed at her apartment unannounced.
“Mr. Griff” ….before Ariana could finish her sentence, he interrupted her
“What do you mean you’re pregnant?” Henry exclaimed angrily.
“I mean….umm,” she stuttered. “It just happened. I thought I was being safe, but it seems it didn’t work.” Ariana responded
“How ironic! You thought I’d love you after this? We had an agreement—it was all just fun and games, nothing else,” he stated arrogantly.
“I understand, Henry. I’m sorry it happened this way.” It was bound to happen, all those nights we had secret get-away, we lost track and just got carried, I got carried away, she continued
‘’Do you hear how dumb you sound right now? Do you even realize what this could mean for me?” Henry’s voice trembled with frustration. Do you know what this could mean for mean? Whatever you do, get rid of it immediately. I don’t ever want to hear of it again,” he said angrily.
Ariana glanced at Henry in disbelief, her stomach knotting as a pang of pain shot through her heart.
“Get rid of it? I can’t kill my child, henry!”
Henry sneered. A mocking smirk crossed his lips as he said, “So, you think I should marry you? A mere assistant? I already have a woman I want to marry and she will be the mother of my children. You’re just a s*x pet, how dare you get pregnant to trap me?”
Ariana felt like she had been slapped on the face. Henry’s words were harsh and cold.
Did he just say she was trying to trap him with pregnancy?
A huge lump formed in her throat as she looked at Henry with blurry eyes. She asked, “Is that what you think of me? Am I a mere object that you use to release your desires? We made this child together. It was an accident but it happened-“
“An accident that you shouldn’t have let happen! Ariana, I’ll wire some money. Go and get rid of that thing in your stomach before I take matters into my own hands-“
“It’s ok. I’m not asking you to take responsibility. I can take care of myself,” Ariana stated, tears rolling down her cheeks.
It was her fault to fall in love with a man who didn’t love her anyway. She couldn’t blame him for shirking responsibility. But getting rid of the child was not it.
Before she could tell what was happening, Henry was in front of her, grabbing her throat tightly. He glared at her and spat, “If I let you go, you’ll still be with that bastard in your belly. Get rid of it before you go. I don’t want to have any connection with you.”
Once again, his words cut through her like a hot knife cuts through butter. They stung.
How could he be so heartless?
“You can’t force me to harm my child!” Ariana snapped.
“Let’s make this clear… you’re only going to be my side piece and don’t have the right to carry my child. Learn your role better… you used to be a good girl. What happened to you?” Henry said and let go of her roughly. “Go to the hospital or I’ll drag you there myself.
When he left, Ariana dropped to the ground and broke down in a burst and just cried out her heart.
Now, as tears blurred her vision, she blamed herself. How had she let this happen? And what next? Ariana needed to understand her options. She had heard about single moms, adoption, and since co-parenting was not an option, she didn’t even want to think about it. But what was right for her?
Overwhelmed with feelings, she decided to leave town to sort out her thoughts.
She hastily packed essentials and headed for the train station, with tears streaming down her face, uncertain of her destination but comforted by the money Henry sent her.
Suddenly, on the way to the station, a car with three men stopped her, pulling her into their vehicle despite her struggles and cries for help. They were too strong, and her attempts to escape failed.
After an hour’s drive, they arrived at their destination. “Boss, we’re here,” one man reported. As she stepped out, she faced an angry man. “How could you?” Ariana demanded, furious. “Why are you doing this? Can’t you just let me be?”
“You gave me no choice,” he replied coldly. “If you had stuck to the plan, this wouldn’t have happened. I told you I own you, you are and have always been my pet and you know what pets they live by rules until they learn to obey.”
“Take her to the ward. The doctor is ready for surgery.” He ordered.
Ariana’s stomach plummeted. Fear crept into her and she thrashed about, screaming, “Let me go! You can’t do this!”
“No, let me go!” Ariana continued protesting with her voice cracking as she was led away….
“Ariana’s voice, weakened from the struggle, it faded even more as they led her to the ward. The struggle in her voice could be heard in the echoes of the building.
Hours later, Ariana’s eyes fluttered open. The harsh light of the operating room pierced her consciousness and she opened her eyes. She lay on a cold metal table, her limbs were secured by unforgiving restraints, like one ready to undergo a surgery.
“Doc, she’s awake,” one of them whispered, their eyes were hidden behind surgical masks. Another nodded in confirmation of it, with their gaze fixed on Ariana.
The operating room buzzed with so much activity, needles, masked faces, and urgency. This Anxiety tightened Ariana’s chest. She struggled against it, her eyes rolled around the room.
As she struggled, a tall, confident man approached. His mask hid most of his face. “It won’t take long,” he assured her. “The jab is…’’ even before he could finish his statement,
Henry burst into the room, his arrogance filling the air as he walked in. at that instant the energy shifted, and Ariana’s anger flared as she laid eyes on him.
“It didn’t have to come to this,” Henry said bitterly. “You could’ve cooperated.” He continued as he approached her
“You jerk!” Ariana shouted, her strength failing her at every chance she tried to speak and fight him.
He ignored everything she said and turned to the doctor. “When can we proceed, Doc?” Henry asked
“This evening,” the doctor replied. “We needed her to stabilize first.”
“Great then, that should be perfect…Sad our story had to end this way Ari, it was good while it lasted’’, trying to hold her chin like he used to when they were only the two of them.” Henry smirked. “Our story ends here, Ari.” He said as he touched her
Tears welled in Ariana’s eyes as he walked away. With each step, her hatred for him deepened.
Lost in her thoughts, Ariana replayed the moments that led to this sterile room—the arguments, the promises broken, the love turned to resentment. She had fought, pleaded, and hoped for a different outcome. But now, as the doctor’s voice cut through the heavy air, she knew the battle was lost.
“Prepare the jab,” the doctor said, his tone clinical. “She’s stable now. Let’s get it done.”
