The plan

Emily's P.O.V. I turned around and breathed out long and hard as I formed my lips in an ‘O’ shape, hoping this would calm me down a bit. The entire room was filled with people, and besides Sam, who I only knew by his name, I knew nobody. It made me want to sink down to the floor and disappear completely. I looked at the girl who was standing besides Sam, who I believed was called Jennie. She smiled at me politely. I could already tell Sam had told her to not speak to me, as most people did after they had found out I was a witch. Sam leaned in to me as he tried to have a conversation with me. “Be honest with me, was this your plan all along?” I leaned back and looked at him, questioning. “I’m sorry, what?” He sighed and leaned back at me. “Was it your plan all along, to come here, to take him away from us, for your own benefit?” I looked at him as I shook my head, trying to look serious. And for some portion, I really did not lie. When Sam had come to our coven, at first, we did not want to help them at all. We just wanted to send them back and let them deal with their own problems, just like everyone else. But then our head wizard Richard had an epiphany. Apparently, there was an old prophecy, that one of our witches would get rewarded with a very powerful heir. Half wolf, half witch. It was an old story I had heard about as a child, but I never knew our most powerful witches and wizards would believe it to be actually true. I just thought it was a story that you told kids before going to bed. They asked me to come before the council, which consisted of the most powerful witches and wizards of our community. They had chosen me to take on the task of going with these wolves. I needed to find a very powerful wolf, mate with him and return to my community. Pregnant with this powerful heir, keeping the future of our community safe. While I had felt sick to my stomach at this news, my mother was beyond excited and told me I needed to be proud. That, out of all the girls, I had been chosen for this very important task. It took me the whole trip down here, to get to terms with the things they were expecting me to do here. My mother accompanied me on this journey, since she was much more experienced than me and, frankly, I did not want to do this on my own. She had gotten a bit mad, knowing that both the Alpha and Beta, the two most powerful men in the pack, were already taken. Therefore, we couldn’t use them for the prophecy. But then, when she found out that Noah, The Gamma and therefore, the third most powerful man of the pack, not only liked me, but claimed I was his mate, had her laughing and crying tears of joy all evening long, since we had made it back into the condo. I didn’t even know what this meant, being someone’s mate. My mother told me werewolves saw this as their soulmates, once they had found them, they stayed with them until one of them died. I found that very hard to believe, since every man I had ever known in my life had all run away from me as fast as they could. My mother made me dress up in this disgusting dress, which made me feel just like I was, a w***e. I needed to sleep with someone in order to give the community an heir, and there was nothing I could do about it, or my place in the coven would be lost and I would become an outcast, forced to live on my own. Which happened to be a death sentence for almost every witch. Sam leaned away from me as I saw his gaze going to someone behind me, as he winked at that person. A second later, a glass of white wine showed up in front of me. I took it and smiled at Noah, as his eyes were piercing mine. I couldn’t help but feel attracted to him. He was very handsome, with his big brown eyes and his wild blonde hair. It seemed odd to me that he was the Gamma of this pack, since he seemed so nice and sweet. I couldn’t imagine him hurting someone or even raising his voice at another person. But being the Gamma, I guess I shouldn’t judge this book by it’s cover just yet. I took a good sip of my wine, being thankful it was good. I was going to need it for tonight. I just wanted to get this over with and go back home, forget this ever happened. I drank some more and before I knew it, my glass was empty and my mood got a bit looser. Jennie was dancing with two other girls called Chloe and Clara. I looked at the three of them as my foot was tapping on the floor to the beat. Jennie spotted me. I could tell she was in doubt, but after a couple of seconds, she waved at me to come stand with her and her friends. I smiled and walked over to her. Thank God for being a friendly person! “Jennie!” she yelled at me as she gave me her hand, “Emily!” I yelled back as I took her hand and shook it. She smiled and winked at me. “Guess you found yourself a hubby today? How are you holding up?” I smiled at her. Isn’t that a weird thing to say? How are you holding up? I guess my face said it all, since Jennie leaned back to my ear. “Let’s just say, I am from another world as well. I know how scary this all feels to you right now. But I promise, it will get better, and once you truly let him inside your heart, it will be the best thing you have ever done!” I looked at her in wonder. So she wasn’t a werewolf to begin with? But she seemed so happy and fitted right in there. Deep inside of me, I hoped that one day I maybe could find my real home too. But I shook my head at the thought. Witches don’t have a home, they just stay inside their coven until they die. It’s just how it has always been. There was no place for a witch inside a wolfpack. Sam came walking over with a few drinks in his hand. Giving me my second glass of wine, which I almost drank in one sip. I saw Jennie watching me as her eyes grew big. “ OK, I like you!” She said as she pointed at me with a grin on her face. “Let’s get you some more, you are drinking for me tonight as well!”
