Chapter 8-2

1819 Words

We arrived at the theater Thursday morning at the same time as everyone else. The actresses, once in their dressing room, were fairly quiet as they got into costume. A rap on the door, followed by “Rehearsal starts in five minutes,” had them scurrying to the stage—so Brody, Jon, and I followed. So did Nina and Carrie, taking seats in the front row of the auditorium with the rest of the costume crew. Glenn, Tommy, and Frank joined them. The first act rehearsal went off without a hitch. Halfway through, Carrie whispered something to Nina, who nodded. Carrie left, heading to the door which would take her to the crossover and then backstage. I followed until she went into the ladies’ room. There are some places I’m not willing to enter, and that was one of them. I returned to the auditorium.
