“You only Turn 18 once and I'm not going to let you make this day a very boring one.” Elaine was hearing these words from her best friend Valeria for the one millionth time time now, at least that was what it felt like. She had been awaiting this day to finally make sure that Elaine would get out of her comfort zone and do something a little more thrilling than what she was used to doing.

Because generally speaking,Valeria perceived her to be a very plain Jane and the last thing she wanted for Elaine was for her to ruin her senior year deciding to become the same Goody two shoes plain Jane that she has always been from the very beginning.

“ I know, Val, you have said that to me countless times already, trust me”. Elaine responded as she threw herself on her bed.

“This was just supposed to be a boring Saturday as in pajamas watching our favorite movies. Why change the plans now?” Elaine questioned as she stared at the very bold, sexy yet stunning dress that Valeria had offered her to wear for this occasion.

“Well, we do that every single year. Get in our pyjamas, watch movies. We are seniors now first of all and you are turning 18 and something has to be different. At least watch the movies looking like a sexy woman, looking like your age.” Valeria responded as she tossed the dress over to Elaine and hesitantly Elaine stared at her and examined it.

All the things that she would never ever put on her body was basically what the stress was, all summed up into one. It was short, revealed her thighs, which she definitely loved to keep very hidden even though her best friend had told her countless times that they were definitely one of her assets and she should show them off more often, but she was definitely very hesitant to do and such things.

She hated standing out. They were totally polar opposites, even though they were very close and had been best friends for years, since she was young, since basically she moved to this town when she was five years old. They had known each other that long and yet they had been totally different from the very beginning till now and still managed to make it work. Valeria was more popular, she was more acquainted with the thrilling, bold typical teenage lifestyle that Elaine never pictured herself living.

She went to parties, she participated in truth or dare games even if the dares were risky enough to risk expulsion and all those things were things that never occurred to Elaine to have a try at, and she definitely did not see herself trying right now. Elaine was definitely the goody two shoes that Valeria always called her, and she had always made sure to play things by the book. She wanted good grades, always worked hard to become the best relationship that she could be.

It was very annoying to Valeria, but it had worked out very well for her. The difference had made the friendship a bit more stronger and it was something that they always liked about each other, how different they were and that they kept each other in line. While Valeria made sure that Elaine did not miss out on everything that life has to offer, trying to be the best student and have the best grades like she already did for years now, Elaine did make sure that Valeria does stay in check and it's not a total failure when it comes to her school work and that way they were able to make the friendship work brilliantly.

“This dress is red. First of all, when have you ever seen me wearing red?” Elaine questioned, arching her brows at Valeria.

“ Well, you're going to have to wear red this time around, and I'm telling you, you are not going to regret it, you will look great. Come on, just do it for me”. Valeria said, pouting her lips and Elaine just crossed her arms over her chest.

“Fine, but I'm only wearing it because nobody's going to be seeing it anyway. Nobody's going to be seeing my legs and my arms, just my whole body feeling exposed.” Elaine said and Valeria just shook her head at her.

“You know, you surprise me. You are young. If you are not going to be wearing skimpy clothes right now, then when the hell are you going to do it?” She asked and Elaine just shrugged her shoulders at her.

“When the time is right, I will know, it's just not in high school, OK? I am still my mother's precious child that she taught to be very modest, so I will not be wearing this kind of dress when anyone can see me this year”. Elaine promised Valeria, and Valeria just nodded along, awaiting the moment of reveal after Elaine walked into her bedroom to try on the dress. She eventually walked down the stairs to show Valeria what her dress looked like on her.

“You see? you look gorgeous. Told you that you would!” Those were the first words to came out of Valeria's mouth, she was absolutely stunned. Elaine looked absolutely amazing. She had no idea why she had not tried to do this in the first place.

“ I told you that you would look great Elaine”. Valeria told her and she just shook her head at her.

“Well, I'm just don't exactly feel very comfortable right now if I should tell you”. She said and Valeria just waved her off.

“Listen, I'm going to go get into mine and we will get comfortable enough to watch your movie you are choosing today.” Valeria said before she got into her own dress that was definitely typical of her to be wearing much similar to the one that she had brought for Valeria, except hers was pink and unlike the one that she had brought for Elaine, it had straps and did not expose much of her chest.

“ I mean you have the better bust. If I had a bust like yours I would be rocking it and showing it off to the world”. Valeria said to Elaine as she looked at herself in the mirror and Elaine just shook her head at her.

“ Well, let's find a movie to watch.”

Elaine said. “it's basically 9:00 PM now and the day's almost over.” They had spent the entire day together doing their typical birthday traditions for Elaine's birthday either way, shopping, going out for food, and baking a cake that always ended up disastrously no matter how hard they tried. This year was no different.

They had tried to bake carrot cake for the first time and it ended up being absolutely disastrous and absolutely inedible, but it has still served her birthday traditions. This time around, Elaine did not know something and Valeria was about to reveal it to her and she knew that she would not like it and hence she had decided to keep it a secret until now. She just could not stand to see Elaine wasting her last year in high school away.

High school was all about and having fun while responsibilities were not a thing to be worrying about and Elaine had definitely not been doing that. She had just been giving herself stress upon stress just trying to be the best student, and high school was not really odd about that, at least not as far as Valeria was concerned.

“ I have to make a confession”. Valeria brought up the minute she heard a car pulling out into the driveway. It was definitely time, and the last thing she wanted was for Elaine to be totally surprised by how she had planned to change things up this time around.

“Well, I might have done something. “” Valeria said and Elaine arched her brow at her.

“What are you talking about?” Her eyes darted to the light that was shining through the closed curtains caused by the headlights of the car was pulling in.

“ Who is that? I didn't think mom or dad were coming home until tomorrow.” She said and rose from her seat before Valeria grabbed her hand and set her back down.

“Yes, it is not them. I…I might have done something just like I said.” She confessed here again and this time around Elaine paid more attention to her face. The anxiousness that was very hard to miss was alarming her.

“What are you talking about, what did you do?” She asked her and she only laughed a little bit before taking one deep breath and letting it all out.

“You are turning 18 Elaine. I cannot watch you just waste away like that. Why do you think I bought you this dress? So you can just sit in here, be pretty and not let anyone see you in it? No, you are going to have an amazing day as an 18 year old and I will make sure of it. You've already wasted much of this year already. I'm not going to let you waste your 18th year and our last year in high school any longer.” She said, and still it was not clear to Elaine what she was talking about.

“What are you talking about, Valeria?” She asked, getting more and more concerned when she realized that there was yet another car and not only were there more cars pulling in, there was murmuring going on from outside of the house.

“ I invited some people from school.okay?, I did it. And yes, that includes the two trios.”

Those were much dreaded words, the last people she wanted to she seeing in her house were exactly those six people. Laura, Parker and Zoe with their equally as annoying and arrogant male counterparts, Logan, James and Ralph.
