I know my father had been trying very hard to make the lives of our people better, like allowing the lower classed people to learn the basics of reading and writing. And allowing the women of higher classed people to learn as much as the men do.
Unfortunately for me, it was such a bore.
My brother and I were extremely fast learners, so when our teacher reviewed things, we were always bored.
Today though, my brother was excused from our lesson because he was to learn other things from my father.
So I sat with the old bald scribe as he tried to help me perfect the art of the hieroglyphs.
“No, no, child!” He said to me. “Do you call that a circle?”
I frowned at the man. “What else would you call it then?” I asked. “A triangle?”
“Your circles look like eyes.” He looked at me with a frown. “Circles do not have pointed ends.”
“That is not a point!” I argued.
“What did you father say about arguing with me?” He asked, crossing his arms.
I pouted my lips.
“Now, draw it again. And again.” He paused. “Draw it twenty times.”
I pressed my lips into a thin line, trying to stop myself from arguing and did what he said.
After working for what felt like forever, I was finally out.
I ran down through the halls and towards the bedroom, smiling and stopping only when someone who was close to my father walked by.
I wouldn’t want them to tell on me for running.
Apparently that isn’t lady like.
When I got to my bedroom, I smiled at my maid, Ai. “Good afternoon, Ai!” I smiled.
The young girl looked at me. She was twelve years old and one of my closest friends. She smiled kindly, pushing her black hair out of her eyes. “Hello, Amunet!”
I grinned at her and felt my heart jump when I saw my dog in her arms. “Is he all groomed?”
She nodded. “I made him nice and clean!”
I took him from her and kissed his nose. “You look beautiful!” I said to him. I then turned to Ai. “Thank you Ai!”
She stood up and bowed, her dark eyes bright with happiness. “It was fun. He is friendly!”
I giggled. “You can go play now if you’d like!”
Ai’s face brightened up even more. “Thank you!” She said before she bowed again and ran off.
I looked down at my dog and smiled again. “Well Pyramid, I think I can show you to my papa now.”
So I left my room with him and made my way to the throne room.
As I walked towards the throne room, Pyramid in my arms, I thought about the night before.
I told my father about the King of Thieves… if that’s who he really was, and of course, I left out certain parts. And my father laughed.
He didn’t believe me.
I was angry, but I couldn’t blame him. I mean, I lied often to make myself look like a hero. It was a silly habit of mine.
And the King of Thieves?
How could I fight off the King of Thieves? It took my father’s whole army to drive him out of Egypt.
Maybe that man was lying to me.
He probably was.
I walked into the throne room and smiled when I saw my mother and father and twin brother.
My mother and father sat on the throne together, my brother stood next to my father.
When my father and brother noticed me, they smiled instantly.
My mother, however, started to raise her eyebrows. She probably noticed the dog.
The person who was speaking to them stopped and turned to look at me.
I bowed and held the puppy out. “His name is Pyramid and I found him.”
My father’s eyebrows rose too now. “A dog.”
“It doesn’t look like it’s from around here.” My mother said, her green eyes looking at the dog. But by the look on her face, I could tell you loved it already.
“When did you find him?” My father asked.
“Yesterday.”
“Where did you keep him?”
“In our bedroom.”
My father turned to my brother. “Did you know?”
My brother hesitated, but nodded. “I did…”
My father then turned to me. “Love, this dog could belong to someone else.”
“But no one has come to claim it. So let me keep it until someone does! Please!” I begged.
He thought for a moment and then nodded his head. “Alright.”
I started to grin.
“But if someone claims that dog, you must return it. Do you understand?”
I nodded and bowed. “Of course!”
“Good.”
I bowed again and then rushed off to play with my new dog.
“We’re going to have lots of fun!” I said to the puppy as I made my way back to my room.
Suddenly, I heard something strange.
I turned around, trying to connect the sound to something. But I couldn’t figure out what it was.
I blinked a couple times but started to walk again.
And a moment later, Pyramid started to bark.
His high-pitched bark scared me at first, but then I lifted him up, so his face was in front of mine. “What’s wrong?”
He looked up and kept barking.
I looked up too, and then gasped and closed my eyes when someone fell from the sky and pushed me against the wall.
I hugged Pyramid tightly, though he kept barking.
When I opened my eyes, I saw the pretend King of Thieves looking down at me, his hands against the wall on both sides of me.
“Where do you keep falling from?” I asked, my eyes wide.
“Give me back my dog.” He said. He looked angry.
I tightened my grip on Pyramid with one hand and used my other hand to push him.
He didn’t budge.
“He’s not your dog!” I said.
The man raised his eyebrows. “You idiot.” He said.
I was unbelievably insulted. “How did you get in here? The guards-”
“I told you, I am the King of Thieves. Guards can’t hold me back, let alone walls.”
I tried to escape by going under his arm, but he easily grabbed my arm, making me drop Pyramid.
I gasped as Pyramid fell to the floor. “Pyramid!”
But he landed safely and stood up on his legs. He then stayed there, facing us and kept barking.
He looked almost happy.
I turned and looked at the thief, who had a tight hold of my hand, and noticed his narrowed eyes.
“You could have killed him!” I yelled.
He tightened his grip on my arm. “First of all, a fall like that cannot harm the dog. Second of all, you fool, the dog is a girl.”
My eyebrows shot up and my eyes widened. “What?”
“I cannot believe you couldn’t even figure that out, you imbecile.”
I looked back at the dog. “No…”
The man stepped forward, easily holding me back when I tried to fight him away from Pyramid. He then picked Pyramid up by the scruff of her neck and held her out. “She doesn’t have a p***s you stupid girl.”
I swallowed hard, unbelievably embarrassed.
Still holding Pyramid, he then pushed me back against the wall and his hand was around my neck.
I gasped, but did the first thing I could think of doing.
Scream.
The thief c****d his head. “I told you already. Your guards can’t hold me back.” He said.
I glared at him. “I got away from you once and-”
“And you won’t be able to do it again.” He said. “I promise you that.”
I hit his bare chest again and screamed louder.
A moment later, a guard came to my rescue. “Hey!” He yelled, holding his spear up.
The thief dropped his hands and wagged his eyebrows at the guard, grinning wildly. “Good day to you.”
The guard ran towards the thief with his spear, but the thief grabbed the spear with his free hand, pulled the guard forward and let go of the spear, and then punched him hard in the gut.
I screamed as I put my hands over my mouth.
The guard had been knocked out.
With one hand.
The thief gave a loud, relaxing sigh as he relaxed his shoulders. He looked up at the sky with a grin. “Feels good to hit Arius’ men again.”
He then looked at me and his grin faded into a small, evil smile.
“Tell your Pharaoh that I’m going to bring him hell.”

HELLO!! =D
I really hope you all enjoyed this chapter!!
And I just wanted to say something: I think some people might have questions about "hell" in ancient Egypt because I DID when I was writing this part LOL!! But I did some research and IT'S ALL GOOD =D but they may not have called it that, however some people even believe the concept of "hell" originated in Ancient Egypt!! Pretty cool, huh??
Another thing: I know that there were dogs in Egypt, but since Pyramid here is a white dog with brown spots and she's Egyptian, I decided to make her a Ibizan Hound puppy! They're cuties xD
THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR READING GUYS!! <3 And don't forget to comment and vote!! =D
