“There you are!!!” I didn’t get a chance to reach the landing when Kat came running to me and hugged me tight. I braced one hand on the banister as I hugged her back. “Oh my god!!” She squealed and then hugged me again. “I didn’t believe Mum when she said you were here in New Orleans, back home…. You don’t even have any idea how much I missed you.” She said into my ear, her voice emotional.
“I missed you too, Kat.” I said, blinking back the tears.
We stepped down the remaining stairs and then I hugged Ami. “I missed you too, you know. She was out of it, I don’t know how you managed to remain friends with her.” Ami said, gesturing to Kat, who in return made a face at her with her tongue out.
