"Jack Devondale." My mom greets with wide surprised eyes.
Jack who seemed just as surprised that my mom knows him blinks several times. "Uhm..? Hi Mayor Bennett. Sorry have we-?"
"No. Not at all. I just know you from my husband."
Now it's my turn to be surprised. "Dad? How could dad know Jack?"
"He used to work for Mister Devondale." Mom explains letting Jack in the house.
Jack's eyes go wide. "My father? I didn't know."
The two share a look and I'm almost certain they're hiding something. "What brings you to our humble home?" Mom asks to break the silence.
Jack swallows now looking uncomfortable. It's the first time I've ever seen him look a little less confident than he usually is. "I was going to take your daughter to the game."
