Ellis The late summer sun beat down on the training field, and the air was so thick with humidity that every breath felt like it was going to drown me. It was a perfect day to train. There was no shade on the field, nowhere to seek shelter from the sun. I could already feel the prickle of sunburn on my scalp and nose. I retreated under a beach umbrella on the sidelines, and sucked on a water bottle, checking my watch periodically to make sure my soldiers were keeping pace.
