My parents and I discussed plans after dinner for my birthday. Traditionally, my grandparents would drive here and stay for a few days to visit with us. This year, we will be going to see them. I was excited because I'd not seen them this summer, and I'd missed them. We would be gone for almost a week, and my parents wanted me to speak with my teachers to find out if I could get the assignments in advance or complete alternative ones. My grandparents had agreed to let me volunteer at the vet clinic with the rescued animals during the visit, so my schoolwork would need to be done before we left. I cleared the dining room table, washed the dishes, wiped the counters, and swept the floor. After making myself an herbal tea, I went upstairs to call Raven. "Hello?" asked Raven, sounding dazed.
