When I opened my eyes, Courtney and I stood in Phoenix and Joey's dorm room. My sister's boyfriend looked at me in astonishment, and his jaw dropped.
"River? Hi! Welcome.... what's up?" Joey babbled, clearly surprised but wanting to make a good impression on his girlfriend's twin brother.
Phoenix was moving around the room quickly, stuffing things into a bag. He looked up at me and smiled.
"I knew you could do it, River. I'm proud of you," he praised.
My heart swelled, and I f*****g blushed. Why was he having this effect on me?
Joey looked at me and then at Phoenix. I wondered if they could see Courtney. No one had addressed her in the room yet. She was still holding my hand and standing right beside me.
"Thanks, Courtney," I said and squeezed her hand.
"Courtney is in here?" Joey
