I warmed up the plate my parents had set aside for me and ate eagerly. I was famished and possibly stressed eating a bit, too, if I was honest. Mom noticed and asked if everything was alright.
"It is, Mom, don't worry. Things are just really busy with school. I'm doing my best to get everything done," I said.
"I know, sweetheart, that you are. Your dad and I are very proud of the effort you've been putting into your studies," Mom said as she hugged me.
"We haven't had time together, just the two of us since school started," Mom said.
"Your dad has to work late at the sheriff's office tomorrow. Why don't we go out for dinner and then go shopping afterward? " Mom offered.
"That would be great, Mom. There are a few things I'd like to get for the birthday party Raven is hosting for me. D
