I skipped downstairs with a big grin on my face. Mom looked at me with a knowing smile on her face. She was chopping vegetables for dinner in the kitchen.

"Dinner and a movie? I asked him to pick me up at the house at four so he could meet you and be grilled by Dad," I said.
"Grilled by Dad!" she laughed. "Sure, that sounds fine, but curfew will be 9 pm, ok? You don't turn 18 until next month, and we can revisit curfew times then."
