"Would you please ask your parents if I can take you on a date after school and then for dinner afterward?" River asked.
"I don't know if they will agree because it is a school night, but I can ask," I said, wondering what he had planned.
"Go ask now and text me back so I can make arrangements if they agree," River urged.
Dad was making pasta and garlic bread for dinner when I entered the kitchen.
"Hey, kiddo, how was your shopping trip?" Dad asked, a strange expression on his face.
