Environmental Science kept me engaged and distracted, so I wasn't thinking about Jace during the third period. The class discussed the long-term impact of agricultural and forestry practices on human health. We talked about the use of chemical fertilizers and pesticides. The toxins in pesticides can accumulate in the human body over the years. Although the immediate effects of exposure to pesticides may be unnoticeable, the chemicals build up in body fat and organs and can lead to various cancers. Many of my classmates had family who had struggled with cancer, and the ethical component of the discussion was fascinating. In Drama, I shared the ideas my mom had suggested with River. He thought they were great, too, and would be perfect for our presentation. I teased him about being able to
