Brooke stared at her apartment in disbelief as Penn's phone rang. She didn't hear it so he wasn't in his apartment. She'd called the cops, but she needed a friendlier face and Paige was on a date. She didn't need to know about this and Brooke figured she'd have the place mostly cleaned up by the time her roommate came home. “Brooke?" Penn said when he answered. “Penn," Brooke said and she heard the desperation in her own voice. “What's wrong?" Penn said. He'd heard it, too, apparently. “My apartment. It's a mess. And the door was open." “Where are you?" he asked. “In the doorway." “Go down to your car." “I don't have a car." “Go to a neighbor's apartment. Just don't be in yours. Call the cops." She brushed the hair off of her face not sure if what she was seeing was real.
