Chapter 1 *Intense Music* Huff! Huff! Gunshot! "No!!!" The man with brown hair stop and turned back to the fallen man behind him, he was about to help him up but the other pushed him away. "Run! Run and never look back!" The man with dark hair screamed with all the strenght left within him while pressing the wound on his thigh. "No! I won't leave you here! We came here together so we will also leave together!" Said the man with brown hair. He took the hand of the other man despite his protest and supported him, he put the other man's arm on his shoulder and ran with him. The man with dark hair laughed frustrated but with amusement looking at the smaller man supporting him despite his abilities. His eyes sharpened, his ears perked up hearing something approaching, he knew that if the other would carry him as a burden then they might both die. "Listen to me, stop carrying me and run. With me injured, we can't outrun that thing. Listen to me, okay?" "No." The brown haired man said stubbornly. "You!" *Crunch* "Watch out!" It was as if everything were in a slow motion, the brown haired man looked at the dark haired man in surprise when the other pushed him away. His right hand was reaching out for the other in hopes to hold him back in his arms but he was still too slow. Right before his eyes, red blood splattered everywhere, a monstrous hand was piercing the dark haired man's stomach. "RUN!!!" "Ahhhhh!!!" In a dim litted room, a man with messy brown hair sat up in fright. His whole body was covered in sweat, panting and heart beating fast, he was frightened with his realistic dream, again. "Again? Why am I having this dreams?" He sighed. *Sound of Rushing Water* The brown haired man or known as Chen Xi let the shower of water fall in his body, hard. Maybe, to wake him up from that nightmare. He was in a daze, feeling terrible remembering that nightmare as if it was all real and not just a dream. The shortness of breath... when running. The pain...he felt when he hit unknown objects while running. The heartbreak.... watching a person close to you be in danger. The warmness of blood....when it sprayed on his face. When was it? When did I started having this dreams? Was this all real or really just a dream? Chen Xi shut his eyes tight and slammed his head on the wall. It eventually swelled up and bruised after a short while, he hit his head rather hard. "Agh! I'm going crazy!!" Lying on the bed after taking a shower not even bothering drying his hair, he quietly stared at the empty space. Am I finally going crazy after being alone for so long? How can I think that those dreams were real? This is after all a modern and scientific world! Demons and ghost does not exist here! That thing is impossible to exist here! Chen Xi keep on hypnotising himself that everything was just a dream, that he was just having the same old nightmare. He keep on telling himself that his dreams were just a bunch of nightmares cause by being unable to fall asleep this last few days. "Right. It was all just a dream. A dream." Chen Xi deeply breath in and out calming himself with this process of self hypnotising. "I need to stop scaring myself." Finally convincing himself that it was all just a dream, he opened his eyes and smiled. He then turned his head to the left side of his bed and looked at the clock. "Its almost time. I need to go for my consultation." "Mr. Chen, base on your results, you are already alright. Your a healthy man so you don't need to always come back here for a consultation." The doctor gave a polite smile. "Doctor, I apologize for all the inconvenience that I gave you this past year." Chen Xi said. "Oh no, Mr. Chen. You do not need to apologise, there is no inconvenience at all. As a doctor, treating our patient is our first priority. Your case was a special one, being a last stage cancer surviving patient it is understandable that you would like to get your health check every now and then to see if there is a reoccurence of the disease. But as you can see, the tumor in your brain is gone." The doctor then showed the latest brain scan Chen Xi just had and compared it to that of last year. The tumor was really gone. "Its really a miracle if I may say, Mr. Chen." The Doctor gave a perfunctory smile. Looking at the brain scan, Chen Xi felt relieved but also a bit worried. He could not pinpoint where this nervousness was coming from but he just felt that his heart was being swallowed by something. "Was it really a miracle?" Chen Xi mumbled to himself. Watching the sky outside of the hospital on a bench, Chen Xi enjoyed the fresh air unpolluted by the smoke of cars and black smoke coming from the factories. The hospital was located at a rather isolated place away from the bustling city. If you don't know enough, you might think that this was just some cheap hospital near a village. But Chen Xi thinks differently, meeting the Doctors and nurses here, he knew by instinct that they are not just some ordinary people. Atleast, they have some skills. For example, the doctors and nurses here are well trained and calm despite whatever crisis. Gunshot wounds or cut of limbs, mutilated bodies and half body, they don't even blink. Chen Xi also noticed that the facility and machines here are all high class, definitely not used by some cheap hospital on a suburbs. This hospital is really weird. "Thinking about it, how did I ended up here?" 'Yes, how did I end up here? I'm a city person and never been in this place before. I never even heard about this place so how did I ended up here?' Chen Xi could not help but think. "Thinking back a year ago, when I found out that I had a cancer I was devastated and went for a drink. I was drunk driving and then everything was blank after that. They said that I had been in a coma for a almost a year and only woke up three months ago. But still, I feel that I am forgetting something." Chen Xi's thoughts deepened. His drive for wanting to solved the mystery that had been impending him ever since that day he woke up got deeper and deeper as he delve deeper down the abyss of mystery which only gets deeper the more he tries to unravel it. "Agh!" Messing his hair, he sighed in frustration having no luck of solving his own sealed mystery. "Don't think about it! I was in a coma and that was all. Why do I have to keep on thinking about it? I'm only making more trouble for myself. Anyway, I'm healthy and alive. That's all that matters." Chen Xi said to convince himself. "Hayst. I'll go home." Chen Xi quickened his steps so he could return early. The mystery he was trying to solve is now thrown on the back of his head.
