I get to the medical area right behind my mother. "In here!"
Dipak puts my mom on the bed.
Within seconds, all the advisors, my father, Elkie, Dorseti, Mary, Vitchen, Dr. Cruor, Clay, and about 20 guards are in the room. It's mass chaos.
Vitchen hands me the box of antidotes.
I'm not sure what's going on. All the damage is around her throat and I don't see any injuries anywhere else. I'm hoping it's not to bad around her neck.
"MOVE!" Dr. Cruor is yelling at someone and trying to get to me and my mom. I'm on the bed with her trying to see the back of her neck without moving her to much. "Vitchen get the blood drip."
"IF YOU ARE A GUARD, GET OUT!" Vitchen's mad at someone.
Dr. Cruor throws a guard out of his way and finally makes it to the bed. He's standing on one side and I'm on the other side, on the bed with my mom.
He takes one look at me. "Your hands are shaking to much. You have to step away."
I check my hands and he's right. They are shaking so much. "But my momma." I rub her cheek and put my face by hers. "Please wake up."
"Take her."
I feel arms come around me from behind again and I scream. "LEAVE ME ALONE!"
"Here doctor." Vitchen is back with the blood.
I start fighting to get away again. "Let me see. I need to check the blood."
"Relax princess. Just relax. Everything is going to be ok." Dipak is the one holding me back this time.
"She's my mom Dipak! Let me go."
He holds on tighter.
"MOMMA!" I try kicking him in the shins but he won't let go.
The doctor looks at me. "The blood is absorbing."
I can feel my entire body relax.
"What does that mean?" My dad sounds worse than I feel.
"She's healing sir. She's not out of the woods yet, but this is a good sign. I'm going to start administering the antidote now."
"Why isn't she waking up doctor?" My dad is crying at the foot of the bed. It is so sad.
"There could be a number of reasons. But it is most likely shock." Most of the wounds are healing as he injects the antidote. "I don't see any big trauma at all. There is nothing to suggest her neck is broken. But just in case, when she wakes up, do not touch her at all. Any movements could make it worse."
I see her eyes flutter and drop to the ground dragging Dipak with me. I'm sobbing and hugging him. "She's ok Dipak. She's ok."
"So are you princess."
"Everyone stay back... Aurelia, can you hear me?... SOMEONE GET SOME WATER... Can you squeeze my hands?... Are you in any pain?"
With every question I hear I'm holding on a little tighter and crying a little more. I feel him standing up and taking me with him. He puts me back on my feet. "Look princess."
My momma has her eyes open.
"Momma."
Her eyes move to me and I try to jump on the bed. Dipak and Gunner both grab me in mid air.
Gunner says, "Easy."
"Here's the water doctor."
Dipak stands right behind me rubbing my arms. At this point, I think he's afraid of fully letting go.
"Good job. Now are you in any pain anywhere at all?"
Momma shakes her head no.
I turn around and hug Dipak again.
"I need you to say it ma'am. Are you in pain?"
It's faint but I hear a, "No."
"I'm keeping you here overnight. If any pain at all arises, I need to know about it immediately. Do you all understand?"
I hear some yeses and feel Dipak nod.
I turn around and climb on the bed very slowly. I lay down beside her with my arm around her and my head next to hers. "You're ok momma. I love you."
"I love you too my baby."
"Vitchen get me another blood drip going please."
I lay there. Momma's must have a leak or something.
A couple of seconds later, I feel myself getting lifted up. I open my eyes and it's Dracul. "My momma." I try to reach back for her.
"She's doing good princess. You're going to sleep in here with her tonight."
I feel him lay me on the second bed and fix the pillow. I'm so tired I can't even open my eyes. I sleep for a few seconds, then I hear talking again.
"You did good out there son."
"She'll never forgive me for holding her down like that." Tre's right. I won't.
"You were protecting her. She will understand eventually." No I won't, Dracul.
"You were keeping her safe son. If you weren't there, that werewolf would have gone straight for her." I hear my dad's voice crack. "She's my baby girl... We don't always have a choice in the way we protect them. We just do the best we can."
"And hope they don't get to mad... Are you ok Miculai?"
"I can't take much more Dipak. Seeing my daughter a completely broken apart bloody mess. My mate in the mouth of a werewolf. Sending my son away. And now my daughter in this bed again."
"I need to place the blood drip on the princess now, gentlemen. I'm afraid if you're not a blood relative, it's time to go."
"Come on... We'll have another sleepover in Dipaks' office. Let these two sleep it off." Gunner is trying to make my dad feel better.
"Have the guards bring new couches."
"Well there's plenty guards in the hallway to send. Last count was 84. Doubt if we'll even be able to get through." Tre is still here. Maybe he'll sit with me a couple minutes alone.
"Put Gunner in the lead. We'll let him use Tre as a battering ram this time. Remember when he did that with the princess?"
I hear my dad laugh. It's nice to hear that.
I let myself fall asleep again.
