48. Beings

I sneak in the back door to my office. I don't want anyone to know I'm there yet. I want some quiet time to clear this paperwork out. On the top of my desk is the rock and sword. I hold the rock for a minute then move it to the bookshelf. I move the sword over and start in on the filing. I come up to the patient we couldn't figure out. I can't help but stare at it. It makes no sense. I grab his whole folder and the sword. I'm holding the folder in my left hand reading it and flipping the sword around my right hand over and over. I didn't even realize I could do that. I'm kind of zoning out on the sword flipping and nearly walk right into the desk. "Good afternoon princess. Glad to see you made it back." "Thank you Dr. Cruor. Have you ever seen anything like this?" I hand him the folder. Dorseti runs up. "I missed you!" I give her a hug. "I missed you too." "Are you coming back soon?" "Soon yes. But not today, I'm trying to get my office cleaned up a bit. How is Zacier doing?" "He's great princess. Probably be back out there tomorrow." "Ok I'll check the horses this evening then." "No princess, I haven't. This is very odd indeed. I don't know what to think or tell you about it. Make sure to document well. Maybe get a statement from Advisor Dipak as well to file with it." "Thank you doctor. I will return in a few days. I'm still getting used to being back." "Take your time. There is no rush. I will say that you look a lot better though." "Thank you doctor. I will see you both later." I start twirling the sword again and walking down the hallway. I keep reading the report over and over. I'm looking at the sketch's. I read the report again. It doesn't make sense. "Princess." "Vampire King Miculai Sandu." But why is it bugging me. But now I'm spinning the sword pretty fast. "PRINCESS!" I drop the sword and it flies up and sticks in the ceiling. I stare at my sword for a couple seconds and then I look around the room. I'm in daddy's office with all the advisors. They must have been having a meeting. "She's starting the merge Miculai." "How did I get here? and I dropped my sword... Up." I smile at all of them. "Sorry 1 minute please." I drag a chair over and stand on it then pull my sword out of the ceiling. Takes almost my whole body weight to get it to dislodge. "Daddy, Advisors, sorry for disturbing your meeting. I was reading this. I'll go." "What were you reading princess?" Daddy smiles. I smile back. "During the convoy incident, on the cliff." I sit down in my chair. "I had a particular patient that was confusing me." I spread the papers out on my spot. "He first presented as injured in the accident. Advisor Dipak made an incision so I could gain entry to his chest cavity. Upon initial inspection, his heart was moved over from the normal spot. Also, he didn't appear to have any other organs." I give them my sketch of the interior body then I sit back. "I immediately felt that something was off, I didn't know what it was. Advisor Dipak ordered me to leave him and do the others. He said he would put my patient under guard." They agree with Dipak. "Later that night, I was ordered to not enter the room of that particular patient without him." They all nod. "Upon entering the room, the smell was different. I did ask Advisor Dipak" I check the papers. "If he smelled it. And he did say yes. So, the smell was off. It wasn't me being tired at that point." I change papers. "During my exam the patient was absorbing the blood but did not appear to be healing at all. I removed the blood drip and couldn't figure anything out. I attempted to remove a leg. I did everything I could think of. At that point Advisor Dipak had me removed from the room." I flip papers again. "Upon returning the patients head was removed and heart severed. I did attempt a blood drip later the next morning. None of the blood was being absorbed, so he was really dead at that point." "Did you figure out what it was?" Daddy is deep in thought. "No I did not. I also showed the report to Dr. Cruor, he has no guesses either. He said he has never seen anything like it. I also will need to get a medical statement from Advisor Dipak for our records." I flip through my stuff and give him the form to fill out. "Within the next couple days is fine sir." Frode writes something down. "I'm going to need copies of all of that. And Advisor Dipak can you please verify everything Princess Nadine said is correct." "Yes, it's all correct." "Do you have anything to add?" "The beings head was very difficult to get off. It was like the neck bones were very thick." I stare at my papers. "That would make sense. That could have been how he didn't break it in the fall." I stand up and start twirling the sword again. "His neck and spine were all intact with no breaks. When you assisted with the removal of the leg, was it equally as hard?" "No, it seemed like a normal leg break." I start pacing back and forth by the table still flipping the sword. "So these creatures, whatever they are, have an extremely hard neck and spine. The heart is lower and left of what ours is. And they can only be killed either by removal of the head or destroying the heart. We don't know if it's one of those things or both that would be required. But removal of the head would seem to be more difficult. Advisor Dipak when you cut the patient open for me, did you have any issues with the rib cage?" "I don't remember that part princess." "Do we still have the body?" Gunner nods. "Yes, we documented where it was buried." "I want it exhumed and brought to the medical area for further testing." I start twirling the sword through my fingers while still flipping it over my hand. Frode starts flipping through papers. "I need to make a request for that." "Any one have any complaints about it?" They all shake their heads no. "Do it immediately. Thank you. Any other questions?" I stop twirling the sword. I get a lot of "no ma'am." "Great." I point the sword at Frode. "Advisor Frode I would like to read over the bonding contract between Advisor Tre and myself, with you, when you have some free time of course." "Yes princess, no problem." "Great, just summon me whenever." I start twirling it again and go towards the door. "Oh and Advisor Dipak." "Yes princess." I smile at him. "Thank you for the sword sir." He smiles back. "My pleasure princess." I poke my head in the door after I leave. "I'm going out tonight after dinner." I yell back after I leave again. "That was your notice." I go back to my office and finish filing everything I can.
