As we sprinted across the lawn towards the packhouse, a curious group of bystanders stopped to watch us. Their eyes followed us until we reached the front door, where Damon threw it open. At the top of the staircase, two familiar faces peered down at us with worried expressions.
“You’re back!” Rachelle beamed as she skipped down to greet us. When she realised we were not here on social business, she stood up straight. “What’s happened, Alpha? Are we under attack?”
“Alpha!” Steven echoed, standing beside her. “Should we summon the warriors?”
“I already have,” Damon replied bluntly. “They should be here in a moment.”
