Watcher Speaks

The silence in the room was deafening, and the machines that had been beeping moments before had become a constant numbing drone. Glancing around, I saw that the room was more like a laboratory for a mad scientist than a hospital. Wires and tubes were snaking out from every direction, connecting me to a myriad of machines that beeped, whirred, and blinked with a hypnotic rhythm.
A strange liquid moved around me, rippling in the tub like it was almost alive. It wasn’t like anything I had ever experienced before. It wasn’t wholly wet or solid but sloshed around me, making strange buzzing sounds. Occasionally, I felt a slight sting, followed by a sudden relief. I wasn’t sure if it was the liquid or the machines that were causing me pain.
