Chapter 1: Getting Bumped

1883 Words
The loud music next door disturbed my sleep. Trying hard to block the noise with help of my only partner-my pillow, I tried to go back to sleep but failed miserably. The music was too loud to tolerate at this early morning. I sat straight in my bed clutching my hair in frustration. “SHUT UP!” I yelled at the top of my voice as I rubbed my face with my hands, kicking away the comforter in anger. The music blared making me furious and helpless. “I will kill you!” I sworn to myself and drawn the curtains up. My eyes went up to the clock and changed my whole façade. Within minutes, I turned into an athlete rushing towards the bathroom to get ready for the college. I would be late if I didn’t hurry up. Hell! What happened to the alarm? Jesus Christ! If I don’t make it on time today, I would fail this semester.  Practicing the best excuse I could come up with, in case, which I am definitely sure about; will be late in the shower, I prayed to god to help one last time. I know he would have grown tired from this almost daily routine. Me promising him that it would never happen again and feel embarrassed even to bribe the lord. Making my way back to the room; I picked up an outfit blindly and rushed out with sneakers. On the way, I grabbed my car keys and phone only to find it drained out completely. No wonder, alarm didn’t go. Collecting the charger from the stand and my back pack; I rushed outside wearing my shoes in process and threw my stuff inside the car. Out of habit, I gave an overall glance at the car only to sigh in frustration and groaned. The car tires were flat! I swear I am gonna kill every person in the world right now. It was already 8:30 and I needed to be in the class at 9. Huffing, I picked up my stuff and rushed to the nearest stop. Only if I could catch the bus in next 5; I would be there in time. With determination, I ran trying to push back the embarrassment creeping in my system as some people stared at me with amusement. As I cornered the building, the strong coffee aroma hit my nostrils and my stomach grumbled in its desire but I muttered to myself that it takes a big heart to sacrifice the things we love and kept running. I turned and the stop came into view putting a smile on my lips. Just ten strides more! I heard the bus’s horn and my smile faded. It was close. I pushed harder to make to it and when I thought I was almost there, a man came from behind two other which exited the coffee club. “No… No… No… No… PLEASE SIDE.” I shouted. The man looked straight and turned to me but he wasn’t quick. *Thud* We bumped as I landed flat on my back with my things scattered around. I cried in pain while trying to get up. The bus honked again as I saw it pulling out of the stop; Hell no! “Wait!!!” I yelled and caught few people’s attention. I was picking up my bag and about to run when someone pulled me back. “What?” I shouted and half-turned slightly impatient. “You didn’t apologize—” that voice was captivating but my focus was on that bus which was already leaving. “Sorry” with that I made a dash in the direction of the bus only to find it at a good far away distance. I ran till I could, then finally give up. Who says a person who tries never fails? Guess; it was a lie. I panted heavily trying to figure out now what I should do. If not for that stupid man, I would have made it on time. The next bus would be after 40 minutes and it wouldn’t be wise. Maybe I will have to just see myself fail this semester. Just the thought made me upset. If only I would have known that I was eventually going to be late, at least I could have taken my time to get ready leisurely. Suddenly, two pairs of arm sneaked under my arms lifting me in the air. Startled and scared, I watched as they carried me. They were hefty, bald and tall with those business suits in all-black just made me gloomier. “Hey, where are you taking me? Please let me go… You must be mistaken.” I tried reasoning but they paid no heed. My heart raced. What’s happening? Are they k********g me? Are they going to kill me? “Hey! Put me down… PUT ME DOWN!!!” I screamed and kicked in the air but they acted like I was invisible. “Where are you taking me? Please let go… I need to go.” I pleaded. Nothing worked and the fear rose in my heart. Glancing at the road beside, I saw people walking around but none glanced in my direction. It was unusual and weird. They looked frightened as they scurried away and it wasn’t making any sense to me. Who are these people they are afraid of? Isn't there any single person who would stand up against them? I recited any prayer that I could recall in my head and struggled to get away from them. I even bit one’s shoulder only to receive death glare from him making me shut my mouth. Tears formed in my eyes; tears of helplessness. I wasn’t ready to give up just yet. “HELP! ANYBODY PLEASE HELP!” I yelled till my throat ached but people scurried away trying to escape the scene. Then tears break loose as it fell down from my cheeks. “Let her go!” That authoritative voice caught my attention. My heart fluttered with ray of hope. Looking at the source of the voice, I couldn’t believe my eyes. In all glory, there stood the God of handsomeness in form of my help. A teary smile appeared on my face. “Boss!” They said. What? Did I hear it correct? He nodded with grave expression and they released me instantly making me fall on the ground, again hitting me at the same place. I groaned in pain rubbing my assets while I glared at the two bald men. “So…” The same voice caught my attention and I snapped my head in its direction. I went speechless! Even with plain look. Hiding his eyes, his true self, behind those dark sunglasses; this man was beyond any words. He was tall, handsome, sexy and what not? Just from his customized suit I could tell he was richer than a rich family. He must definitely be a trillionaire! But pity he was no less than a Devil. His straight face with pointed features just added to his cold façade. The way he stood condescending made me squirm at my place. “Who are you?” I asked looking straight in his eyes those were behind the glasses. That goggle suited him, damn! His eyebrow rose in surprise before his lips thinned. “Apologize!” he demanded making me jolt in my place. God! He is scary. Still I wonder what for? He could have sensed my confusion as he went ahead to answer feeling irritated. “Tsk… I don’t have entire day for this brat, just apologize for bumping into me earlier.” He said waving his hand like ‘it was such a waste of time’. “Excuse me?” I glared at him. “I agree we bumped but I warned you beforehand. If only—” I started only to regret. He bent towards me slowly while sneering at me, removing his glasses. Trust me if looks could have killed, I was nowhere to be found.  He was gentle for a second before his eyes turned icy, piercing me with its shreds. Despite the shiver that ran down my spine, my eyes glued to his grey orbs. They were… “NOW” he whisper yelled as I shook from fear. Something about this man seemed off. His voice was eerie and the look on his face intimidated me. “I-I am sorry sir.” I said feeling wronged. He wasn’t even hurt when I bumped into him. He stayed still and seeing that I was still sitting on my already bruised bums, he didn’t apologize for the rude behavior of his men. “That’s great!” he grinned as if everything was okay and walked away making me stare at his retreating back. Is he a nut case? Till now he was about to attack me like a prey and then it just… whooshed! “I want to punch you i***t!” I yelled to nobody in particular. *Beep* *Beep* My head snapped at the direction of the horn only to find a Lambo Aventador in Nero Aldebaran, my favorite color. What’s he doing here? “Hey! Sis, hop in.” Theo said while opening the car door. I was glad just for once to see him and accepted his offer. I can bet he was surprised to see that. “So, I take it we are heading to the college and you are running late, right?” He asked as he drove away. I nodded not looking at him. I know just from the sigh he let that he was disappointed in me. Theo is my brother and he is freaking rich. My parents are as well but he has earned this fame and power, himself. Then again, we aren’t on good speaking terms. It wasn’t that hard to guess, right? “What the hell were you doing lying on a street in the early morning? Putting up a show?” He rambled and I let him. “Can you behave like an Anderson for once, little P? God! Grow up girl.” He advised and I let him. When he stopped at the college gate, he turned to me. I secretly glanced at the wrist watch—9:02. “Come home tonight. Parent’s are waiting for you—” And that was it! I hurriedly opened the door and rushed out mumbling a quick “Thank you” ignoring his calls. Now, my head clouded with unnecessary thoughts about the predicament faced. I was feeling bitter and ran in the empty corridors to go to my classroom when the second bell rang. In the rush, I failed to notice my shoe lace which came undone and tripped on it. “Woah… Woah… No Please” I tried to steady myself but it didn’t take another second when I fell forward with eyes shut bumping on hard surface.
