Chapter 9: He is My Tormentor

1560 Words
Sari’s POV I thought we were heading to the department’s medical unit but he was already pulling out of the college campus. “The medical center is ins—”His stern glare made me shut my mouth. Through teary eyes and constant consoling (mentally); I was feeling intense gaze on me and managed to glance at him. He was watching me with unreadable expressions and didn’t look away even when caught staring. I became terrified because he wasn’t focused on the road. So, I pointed at the road hoping he could take the hint but he seemed to have other plans. “Sir, focus on the road—” not before I could’ve finished the sentence he slammed on the breaks making the car jerk with the force before halting. My head was about to slam on the dashboard but he had already cushioned it with his palm. It still met with a huge impact and I am sure it must have hurt him but he remained unfazed staring at me. “Sir, uh?” he asked with sour face. “Tell me, do you do that on purpose?” He leant into me. His closeness—too close to my liking, staggering my heartbeats and made me forgets to breathe. “Wha-what are you talking about?” I glanced around avoiding his eyes. They were dangerous, turning dark and ready to ablaze me on fire. “You f*****g know very well, what I mean!” He yelled slamming his fist beside me on the dashboard, startling me and there I lost it. I cried trying my best to avoid him right now. With quick turn, I reached for the door but he was quicker. He pulled me towards him, turning me back again. “Where do you think you are going?” He seethed at me, frightening me even more. His hand gripped my already fractured wrist and the other hand rested on my thighs. I bit my lips hard to muffle my screams and refused to meet his eyes. The hand that rested on my thighs passed unknown electricity through this pain which made me swarm in my place. I just needed to escape him, right now. “What happened?” He asked with hatred in his voice that made me look at him. For a moment I thought he has realized his mistake because his eyes widened and narrowed but who was I kidding? His jaw clenched and he pushed me back with such a force that my head hit, making me groan in pain. I was crying silently when he raced the car. My sobs turned to hiccups and I was scared to irritate him anymore. I don’t know what his problem was; what he has assumed about me but all I know was- there was no way I will be somewhere around him. “Can you shut up?” He shouted in frustration as I shook. My chest about to explode not being able to handle the bottled emotions anymore but I was too scared to annoy the man beside me. How I wish he could behave the way he looked. The car halted and the door clicked open. Not waiting anymore, I opened it wide and slammed it behind me running fast towards the hospital infront. I was wiping my tears away and watched as few people stared at me. Some even walked in my direction as I waited at the reception. “Are you okay?” An old lady asked me and I nodded my head in agreement. “Come here!” that icy voice was enough to scare me. The old lady turned to see him and quickly backed away with lowered head. Even few people who were coming to me have changed their route and I sighed in disappointment. Maybe it isn't just me who is afraid of him after all. I felt his ice cold hands on my shoulder as he forced me to turn and hauled me directly to the doctor’s cabin. No one dared stop him and he barged inside the door shocking the doctor as well. The patient inside scurried away and I just stood there with head hung low, focusing on my breath to ease the pain. “Hey man! You’ve got to check her.” I heard the disgust he felt mentioning me. With courage, I caught a glimpse of them to find the doctor staring at me with wide eyes. “Who’s she?” I take it that he wanted to ask him secretly but I heard it anyways. “Just a student.” The devil shrugged and I had the urge to scratch his handsome face. ‘Just a student’. Nonsense! I was a student he loved to humiliate. “Oh! Was this the passion you were talking about that night?” the doctor asked and smiled before nodding. “Hello miss… can you—” He asked. I saw and found him watching me with gentle face and sincere smile. He was handsome but not as handsome as the devil himself but he appeared to be gentle and warm. I nodded and managed to sit beside him. I was already hiccupping and he seemed to have noticed. “Awww… Is it that bad?” he asked while I nodded. The way he was gentle to me only trigger my tears but I still tried to hold back. He touched my hand with care to inspect it and he frowned. “Who did this?” He asked becoming a little angry and it worried me. My eyes automatically went to the devil to gawk his reaction. Will he say it? Should I tell him? Mr. Martin appeared cool like none of it was related to him and I sighed deciding for the latter. It wasn’t like the doctor could do something against him. The doctor already followed my eyes and his jaw clenched. “Miss—” “Sari!” I managed to tell him my name without breaking down. “Oh, okay Sari. Can you tell me how this happened?” Dr. asked watching back and forth between me and my Professor. I saw Professor stiffen for a moment and when I was about to lie, he cut me off quickly urging the doctor to just finish with the task and allow us to leave. “I’d like to have a word with you.” Doc ordered Mr. Martin and I was stunned. Mr. Martin didn’t appear happy as the doctor asked me to wait inside. Their hushed voices fell on my ears and being intrigued; I couldn’t help but eavesdrop on their conversation. “Why did you do that?” The doc seemed angry. “It wasn’t me. What makes you think that?” the devil tried hard to convince. “Oh so now you think, I can be fooled?” The doc wasn’t ready to back down. “Why are you so worried about that brat? You don’t seem to even believe me when I am refusing it wasn’t done by me and nor did she mention my name.” Mr. Martin sounded hurt. My hand was throbbing and it was just being nuisance. I saw it turning blue to dark blue and so, I got from my seat and interrupted their fight. It wasn’t that he would agree on any of it so why fight? The doc glared at Mr. Martin before attending me. We ran an X-ray as he showed me the partial fracture on my wrist and plastered it. He had pity in his eyes and did his best not to hurt me more than I already was. I was screaming in pain when they started plastering it and suddenly the Devil entered the room making me bit my lips. He must have been agitated from my cries and I was scared he would hurt me again. To my surprise, he stared at me pitifully and guilt crossed his eyes. He quickly came beside me and caressed my forehead, trying to soothe my pain. “It’s done… just another few seconds.” The doctor said as Mr. Martin stared at me with an encouraging smile. It confused me so much. He appeared like it wasn’t him who put me in this situation but someone else with similar features. “You’re such a good girl. You’re doing great.” He encouraged me and tears spilled out of my eyes. The doctor patted my head and smiled as he helped me get up, giving the devil a death glare. The teeth had pierced my lips as I let them go only to taste my own blood. Accidently, my eyes fell on Mr. Martin and saw him watching my lips in unacceptable way. His eyebrow knitted together as he licked his lips making my heart race wildly. How stupid of me to even think of it this way. I mentally cursed myself, trying to get off the bed but Mr. Martin helped me leaving me with messed up emotions.
