We rode in his truck. I had my new car, but still needed to get it inspected and titled. I was out of sorts anyway and didn’t think I was in the right mindset to drive. What was wrong with me? How could I have not seen my mom today? And how could I even think about falling for anyone—let alone Jeff—when my family was torn apart?
