Nature Tongue

1098 Words
NATHANIEL There was a peace to the hustle and bustle of the forest. In the middle of all those screeches, grunts, growls and bird songs you would find a moment when everything just falls into silence. And you will find that moment right in the middle of the song of the forest. Nathaniel felt a connection to nature, it might just be his class messing with his mind, but he was okay with it. Nature guard was a passive skill he had that made him two percent stronger in a forest. But that was just the expected explanation. Nature guard seemed more, like it was more than just a skill that increased his strength in a forest. His sense of belonging, his ability to somehow navigate his way through the forest just as easily as his father who was a hunter, or the fact that now he could see the forest in much more different way. [DRUID SIGHT: LEVEL 1: ACTIVE/PASSIVE(CLASS): Give Your Natural Eye’s The Ability To See The Very Essence Of Nature Itself And The Energy That Binds The World. Night Vision +5%, Soul Sense +5%] Well long story short, Nathaniel could now see the spirits of every departed animal, plant and insect as their energy returned back to the land. At first it was quite a scary sight, but he was able to get used to it relatively quickly, or maybe that was because he already had so much in his mind that he was not so bothered by the fact he was surrounded by ghosts. Nathaniel placed the firewood in his hands on the floor and sat on a tree root that stretched across his path. He knew he really had to return back to his sisters and father, but Nathaniel needed a little time to himself. But not to think though, Nathaniel at this point has had enough of thinking or thoughts, he just wanted to be empty, to be free to enjoy the beauty of nature in front of him. Nathaniel let out a sigh filled with grievance as he focused his violet eyes on the root he was sitting on. He could see the energy lines on the surface of the tree, he was sure it went deeper than just what he was seeing, but the druid sight was still low level. But he loved the way the energy pulsed, how it glowed only to his eyes alone. It flashed with consistency on a particular rhythm and tempo, it was like a heart beat. The very life force of the tree as it carried on with its life. Nathaniel felt at peace as he leaned his back against the tree and closed his eyes, he could feel his heart beat in tandem with the tree’s, he could feel every stretch of its bark, every crease and rough edge, every bump and every branch, every leaf and every vine that hung down and around it’s living body. For Nathaniel it was not just the peace that came with such connection that got him, it was the feeling of swimming leisurely in such a huge ocean of power and energy. He was like a fish in water, and for the first time in a long time Nathaniel felt like he really belonged. As he rested on the tree, its manner of breathing changed. Its pulses became more erratic as it moved to a different tempo. At first Nathaniel was confused and had to open his eyes thinking the tree was under attack, but there was nothing, just that tree still pulsing differently than the others. Nathaniel took a closer look at the tree, trying to get a feel of what was going on. This tree was unlike any Nathaniel had every come across, this tree did not just grow leaves, it also grew vines, and they were wrapped tightly around its trunk and body in such a way that hardly saw much of its real body exposed. But for the part that he could see, Nathaniel notice the tree had swirl like patterns on its bark, and it was then that he noticed that with how big and thick the three looked, about the size of four grown men opening their arms wide in a circle, and it was about ten meters tall, this tree was actually moving in tandem with a nonexistent wind. Its entire trunk and branches swayed and fluttered when there was no sign or feeling of a single gust of wind. Comfortable or not Nathaniel was completely spooked, and he had to move back several feet before he got control over his emotions. It was like the tree was dancing to a different rhythm than the rest of the forest, and as Nathaniel watched from a distance, the flashes of invisible energy light from the tree became brighter and erratic. It was almost as if it was trying to talk. And that was when everything seemed to make sense to Nathaniel. He took slow steady steps back to the tree, and placed his hands on its vine covered body and said to it. “Are you trying to talk to me?” What he got was a single flash in response as if to say yes. Nathaniel let out a gasp as he stumbled back and fell in surprise. His heart was beating at a mile a minute and he had a lump in his throat. All of a sudden the second system prompt in the past one hour and a half appeared before him. SYSTEM ALERT: SKILLS [Congratulations Your Beast Tongue Has Evolved To Nature Tongue. It was not just sight alone, but a mixture of sounds and feelings that made him feel like he was seeing the world clearly for the very first time. When he looked at the tree this time he did not just see the light flash, he could hear the tree. It was slow and hollow, like the creak of a door whenever it was open. Nathaniel felt an intense excitement as he finally placed his hands on the vine covered trunk of the tree.
