Lane stepped out into the weather. Looking around he decided to travel to the top of the ridge and take the time to study the country.
The weather wasn"t bad at the moment so he checked the loads in his rifle and headed out. Finding a game trail that headed in the direction he wanted to go, he set in at an easy pace, not fast but at the same time covering a lot of ground.
Mostly he just wanted to look the country over and have an idea which way to travel when the time came to leave. There wasn"t a lot of food left as far as vegetables but he figured that they"d get by. When the time came they wouldn"t be able to carry a lot with them anyway.
