That night as he slept for some reason he dreamed about his hunt. He had gotten up before daylight and started breakfast. The guide had fixed coffee, and they discussed the day"s hunt over breakfast. They hadn"t seen a lot of signs yet but the guide had assured him that this was usually a very good location for trophy elk to be. After breakfast, they decided that he would go to the opposite end of the valley while the guide would spend the morning checking for signs in another clearing over the ridge behind them. If Lane was to shoot he shouldn"t have any trouble hearing it. They would meet on the south end of the valley between twelve and one in the afternoon.
