The next afternoon, I wake up to the sound of my alarm clock with a strange, dry sensation in my throat. It's that vampire-specific hunger that bothers me all the way down to my stomach. I grab my phone to turn off the alarm, checking my texts. I missed Rick's good night text because I turned the notifications off... That's one good way to make me smile so early.
