“ Please don’t cut off my legs I’m begging you please!!” “We have to I mean what are you going to use it for anyways” I ran away from the woman with the saw in her hands trying to cut off my limbs, but I kept running on the same spot, going nowhere at all. The woman in doctors scrubs caged me and when she took of the mask it was my wife Lisa. Just before she could saw off my hands I heard a voice clear as day. “Wake up Mr. Richfield wake up!” As I opened my eyes to see what or who it was waking me up, it was Anastasia looking at me with a worried expression written all over her face. I felt the sweat on my forehead begin to trickle down my face. “Sir are you okay” I couldn’t even answer her, because for the first time in a long time I realized that if the reality didn’t scare me then my nightmares definitely will without a doubt. “It’s… it’s nothing at all. Just a bad dream I guess” Without being told Anastasia immediately ran to the bathroom and grabbed a wet towel and began dabbing it onto my forehead. When I turned my head to look besides my bed, my wife was missing. Anastasia quickly picked up my disappointment. “She went out right after you turned in for the night” “Where did she go exactly?” “That sir I really do not know, I didn’t even ask” “Why didn’t you ask?” “Because I was hired by your wife to take care of you and not play the mediator between the two of you” I couldn’t even argue with that fact at all. I couldn’t turn the young woman into a mediator for my wife and I. I watched Anastasia wipe away the sweat that was falling from down my brows and she proceeded to wiping the rest of my chest. Even though I couldn’t feel her touch on my skin, I could see the care in which she did it. Not long this young woman seemed like a prick, a loner who I thought was going to end up like the others by being fired, but she has managed to surprise me by lasting a little over month in my mansion. My eye moved from her hands to her chest and finally her face where we both locked eyes with each other for what seemed like an eternity, until she pulled her gaze away from me killing the little moment that we had. “Is there anything else that you need me to do for you sir?” Yeah, kiss me just this one time. I quickly banished the thought from my head, knowing damn well that it was inappropriate for me to be thinking such of my employees. “No its okay. You know just leave the lights on, please” Her face quickly lit it up and before I knew it, she was grabbing a small blanket on making her way to the couch that was placed at the corner of my bedroom, “Excuse me Anastasia, but what do you think you’re doing?” “Well I’ sleeping here tonight, to watch over you” I tried laughing it off because for the life of me I thought that she was joking with me, but when I looked back at her face, she seemed pretty serious. “Anastasia I don’t need a babysitter okay, I simply had a nightmare that’s all” “I know that sir and I’m not in way suggesting that I want to be a babysitter to a grown man” I watched Anastasia climb onto the couch and she covered herself with the little blanket and wished me goodnight. For the next 3 hours I couldn’t sleep so I sat t in bed pondering over Anastasia, trying to vigorously figure out what made her special. Clearly according to the doctors I could never satisfy a woman sexually nor can I ever feel s****l emotion towards a woman. I didn’t know what it was, but Anastasia seemed to awaken something even I couldn’t explain. She tossed and turned and turned and finally she woke up her eyes locking into mine again. “Oh Mr. Richfield, you’re awake?” “Yes it seems I am, I couldn’t get myself to sleep I guess” “She quickly got off the couch and made her way to one of my draws ad began searching for something until she found it and faced me, in her hand was pack of pills and I knew exactly what it was. “Anastasia stop it” “But sir—” “Anastasia stop it please!” I could see that my screaming had scared her a bit, because she stopped dead on her traps and stared at me like a deer caught in headlights. “Okay sir” Again I felt another emotion which felt like pity or remorse. I didn’t understand it because I was the ruthless Maximus Richfield, who feared no body and was respected by all. “I’m sorry Anastasia it’s just that I’m sick and tired of all this crap,! Every time something comes up they stuff me with hundreds and thousands of pills and I’ve just about had enough of it” I smiled at her and she did the same and kindly placed the medicine back into the drawers. “Oh and one more thing, don’t tell my wife otherwise she will blow the roof of this place and force them down my throat whether i agree to it or not” Anastasia simply nodded at me and went back to sleep and I at least tried to sleep only to kept awake for another night pondering about everything that my life has come down to. ** “Good morning!” I didn’t even have to open my eyes to know who it was, it was my wife sounding happy. That really wasn’t a surprise anymore I mean she has a unlimited credit card that she could mess around with. I opened my eyes to see her looking down at Anastasia in silence, that cheery and happy body language had disappeared from her the instant she saw Anastasia sleeping on the couch. “Well good morning wifey” Lisa turned around to look and me and just like lighting she pulled off that fake smile of hers, luckily for me I knew it so well that she couldn’t even fool me if she tried. Lisa sat on the bed next to me so that’s he could whisper. “What’s she doing in our bed room at this early hours of the morning?” I couldn’t even begin to describe my anger for her right now. Lisa didn’t care of about my health or the fact that’s she didn’t sleep at home last night and abandoned me. All she cared about was that a caregiver was sleeping on our couch. Just like clockwork Anastasia woke up and began to stretch and she stopped dead on her tracks when she saw my wife sitting on the bed besides me. “Good morning Lisa , I didn’t know you’d be home this soon” “Oh what can I say, I missed my husband so much that I just had to cut my trip short” Lisa and Anastasia continued to talk and I was completely left out until I had enough of them talking. “Anastasia can you please leave my wife and I alone for a moment” She nodded in agreement and walked out of our room, leaving just myself and Lisa. I quickly focused my attention onto Lisa. “Where were you last night? because you certainly weren’t sleeping next to me last night” My wife looked my way and that smile that I often used to love broke through her lips as she walked towards me like I temptress snake, savoring its meal. “Well my friends and I were—” “Oh save me the crap and sell it to someone who cares about it. You know for once I’d actually like to know who these friends of yours are that have absolutely no lives at all, to the point that you can just grab them whenever and jet away on my private jets!” “It’s our private jet dear husband, unless your paralysis has already started to affect your brain cells” I knew that Lisa was spiteful and didn’t care for anyone’s feelings, but herself but I even I had to admit that my wife throwing my disability in my face jabbed at my ribs a bit. Sitting in my bed with only pillows to propel me upwards, I starred at her a while and I could see nothing but rage in her eyes. “We’re done here” As simple as that . Those were the only words that I could utter at the moment but Lisa didn’t walk out or slam the door like she normally did when I upset her in the past. “Lisa I said you can leave, unless you want more money you already have that unlimited credit card I gave you” “Don’t you dare try me Maximus, I’m warning you” Lisa was all bark and no bite, but this time I could sense something more in her voice and I didn’t like her threatening me. “Lisa I hope you’re not threatening me because—” “Because what!? I’m so sick of you being so needy, depending on me to do everything for you. It’s always Lisa can you lift my pillows for me, Lisa help me drink my coffee, Lisa I don’t like this care giver I need a new one! I’m a young woman for crying out loud I need to live a little not take care of a cripple like you!” “If you don’t want a cripple then I suggest you tell me what you want and I’d like it to start with a divorce please” For a while the room was so silent that you could hear a pin drop onto the floor. I knew I loved Lisa but saying those words helped me feel a little relived… as if I’ve been wanting to say it throughout our marriage. “What’s her name?” “Pardon me?” “I said what’s her name!? You know the woman you’ve sleeping with behind my back although I didn’t know how you’ve been pleasing her cause you’re practically dead when it comes to that department” “Don’t you dare throw accusations at me Lisa, I won’t have it from me you or anyone else!” “Oh the great Maximus threatening his wife! So tell me who is it Jasmine ,the junior cook because she’s quite pretty” “Stop it!” “Oh my bad is it Tom the gardener, because we have to make sure that you’re not just doing the ladies” “I said enough!” This time she stopped and sat on the bed next to me and looked right into my eyes, because when I looked back at hers it seemed like she didn’t have a soul, she was a bitter and cruel just like I knew she was. “Or is it Anastasia , I mean I did catch her sleeping in our matrimonial room—” “On the damn couch Lisa” “So?” “So nothing, I don’t with don’t mingle with the peasants and I won’t start now” “Good, I don’t think I’d like to be out done by the help” Lisa got off the bed and immediately she made herself out of the room leaving me all by myself, fist clenched and all. Sweat kept dripping down my forehead and the annoying headache came back again. I called Anastasia back inside the room and she came and helped me. Throughout helping me shower and dress up there was something wrong, she didn’t converse like she usually did. I couldn’t believe what I was saying but did miss her bubbly personality.
