Chapter 4 Cal went up to the front to close the Blackbird Bakery’s curtains. The day had continued wet with a steady Pineapple Express storm slamming in from the general southwest direction of Hawaii. It wasn’t a particularly big storm, and while it wasn’t raining at the moment, the air was almost as wet as the streets. The cinnamon rolls had been slow to rise in the high humidity and the traffic in the store had been low. Still, he’d estimated fairly well and the day-old rack wouldn’t be too full tomorrow.
