Chapter Six Cassie didn’t resist. Couldn’t resist. Her limbs were like lead. He took her into an elevator. She couldn’t read the indicator but it felt like they were heading down, into the sub-basement area. No one she knew could say for sure how many sub-basement levels there were. He carried her easily, like a sack of vegetables, along a dimly-lit corridor, and eventually into what seemed like a large open space. Large enough that the walls were lost in darkness. He put her on the cold concrete floor. She tried to struggle and felt a little weak movement in her arms. The spray he’d used must be wearing off, but by the time she had control over her muscles, Cassie was cuffed, the cuffs were attached to an overhead chain, and the guy had wandered off into the shadows.
