He took his time with the drinks, calling through from the kitchen area with small talk, sounding completely relaxed and unfazed by her presence. He returned and placed himself on the sofa opposite, giving her a warm smile as she thanked him. She saw for the first time now how handsome he was. He looked large and imposing on the sofa but his face had a kindness to it, despite the rugged creases that marked each cheek. With shorter hair she could easily picture him as ex-forces, which may explain his current career in hi-tech surveillance gadgets.
