Your absolutely terrifying gaze

Seth’s POV The last few days have been at least interesting. Whatever was the main reason I decided to accept the invitation for the Ostara celebration, had long vanished and been replaced by something entirely different. The land was amazing and it seemed that the locals were doing perfectly fine, secluded, fishing and hunting for themselves. A little strange when you come from a large city straight here, but nevertheless comforting. To my utter surprise, everything here was so simple. Nothing like I was used to. No million dollar cars, jewelry or dresses. No fine wines and gold plated cutlery. No extra fancy s**t or fake smiles. Just simple people who wanted nothing more but to bring the community together and enjoy this special occasion. It was strange to be surrounded by people who don’t look at you like the pile of money you are worth. Marcus, the alpha of this pack, was extremely welcoming and he even took the time to introduce himself to every guest, treating all of them just the same. I even got to spot mere humans walking among the werewolves, and strangely enough, they were not servants. They were guests just like I was. Absolutely refreshing. And there was her. Mellione, Goddess of Ghosts, Lennix. With gray eyes filled with wonder and childish curiosity, with enough energy to power everyone around her. The life of the party, the beating heart of her group of absolutely terrible friends. With curious siren eyes, always lined with thin eyeliner, with her pitch black hair that held blue reflections, similar to raven feathers, with plump and always wet lips, with a certain elegance and femininity to her body, a perky chest and round hips, I had to continuously remind myself she was a child yet. Despite the strange magnetism I felt every time I laid eyes on her, keeping away from her was the best decision for now. I even told myself that the strange allure she held was only because she was so different compared to anything I have ever had or seen before. She didn’t wear diamond earrings, her lips were naturally plump and full, and the freshness of the way she behaved was invigorating. I couldn’t help but notice the way her pale cheeks flushed red every time we crossed paths or the way she always decided there was something else to be done when I was around. The way her words stammer and she immediately tries to get away but ends up stumbling over her own feet was almost adorable. Less tiring than having someone stick to you like a bad fart or fawn over you like you wouldn't know the real reasons behind all this. And now, she stood before me again, her breath hitched in her chest, her eyeliner smudged along with the little makeup she wore, her cheeks stained with tears she didn’t want to show. I could even go the extra mile and say this was part of her witchy outfit, but the heartbreak I noticed in her eyes made me understand it was about something else. My eyes narrow and I can feel myself grow a little stiff as I’m not entirely sure what to say. Her teary eyes seemed even prettier now, but I’m sure such a compliment wouldn’t be taken lightly as it was intended to be, so I bit it down. But I’m not given the chance to say anything as a heartbreaking sob escapes her, filling my chest with a terrible heartache that almost leaves me breathless, and she pushes past me and gets inside. The very moment she brushed past me, her scent suddenly intoxicates me. I don’t even have time to process what happened as she left me alone on the porch, with an aching chest and longing for her oddly strong perfume. I haven’t noticed until now that she smelled like magnolia flowers and juniper berries. ‘Mate!’ Something within my mind growls furiously and my narrow eyes suddenly widen with the realization. ‘Mate! Mate! MATE!’ The voice grows more and more agitated as I fully grasp the concept of the absolutely drunkening scent- “Mell! Wait!” a high pitched voice pulls me away from my own thoughts as someone else pushes by me and gets inside. All I get to notice is the terribly curly and red sea of hair and a very distinctive aroma. s*x. My mouth suddenly waters and something within me stirs, ready to force me to turn on my heels and follow the magnolia and juniper berries scent, but a pair of cold brown eyes make me stop. Sex… It’s all over him. And now I understand I’ve seen him before. Zeke? Zeke, God’s strength… the overprotective friend. The obsessive friend. The one who would never lose her from under his eyes whenever I was around. The same agitated voice inside my head grows still as the boy stops in front of me, fists clenched at his side as if I was his one and only problem in the world. “You stay away from her!” his warning is growled and I can feel the force he is holding himself from smacking me right now. One of my brows rises in confusion as I eye him and my hands casually go in my pockets, waiting for him to explain himself. “Don’t play dumb with me! I’ve seen the way you are looking at her!” Zeke steps closer and before I know it, he’s only inches away from me, so close I can feel his wet dog stench that makes me almost gag. 'He hurt her!' The voice inside my head grows louder, repeating the phrase all over again, but I barely flinch as it insists on pinning the boy down and teaching him a lesson. “Seth?” a familiar voice cracks the silence that was growing tense. Zeke slowly loosens his fists and bumps his shoulder into mine as he walks by and hurries inside. I follow him with my eyes until I lose him in the crowd, but I don’t need to be told to know he’s going after the two that just stormed inside. “You’re-” Callix starts but swallows his words when our eyes meet. At his arm, a blonde girl(? Not entirely sure I could say she’s yet a woman) clings to him with a fierceness I’ve never seen before. Her baby blue eyes make me think that she’s as innocent as she looks, but something about her makes me want to stay away. Still composed, my eyes move from the girl to my trustworthy beta, wordlessly asking him who this was, despite the urgency I feel to chase after the raven haired girl. It seems that the blonde girl suddenly picks up on the same distress I’m getting from inside the overcrowded house, because she gets fidgety and not long after, she lets go of Callix’s arm. “Annais?” Callix’s attention moves back to her, as if there was nothing more important, but she ignores him, eyeing me with distrust. I move from the doorframe, before she too would push and bump into me. She storms inside and I follow her with my eyes. Callix seems to want to follow after her, but when his green eyes meet mine he stops and composes himself. “Nothing is out of order. Everyone is doing as they’ve been told, and the transport has safely arrived in our warehouses yesterday. We will be ready to dispatch everything next month.” he informs me. Well, at least one thing is going according to plan. The phone buzzes insistently in my pocket and I pinch the bridge of my nose, sighing softly. A mate… My mate- I turn to look inside the house again, taking in a deep breath of her inviting perfume, before grabbing my phone and walking away from Callix, letting him as he pleases for the rest of the night. I had a few more things to deal with before chasing after her like the dog I am right now.
