Dylan's POV
The rogue attack is becoming more and more these past few weeks. It is alarming, yes, but not really a big deal for my pack. My pack, which is the Triton Moon Pack.
We are the biggest, strongest, and most fearsome pack in the country. All my pack members are well trained, even the pups because we start training them as soon as they reach five. We are known to be merciless, especially when it comes to rogues, for they bring nothing but trouble. However, I cannot be so reluctant about this rogue issue because we're talking about the safety of my pack.
My pack is all I have; Dmitri, my father's beta, and his mate Adela. They took care of me like their own and became a brother to their son Phelan, who is now my beta. Oh, and James, my cousin, my only blood-related family left. But we never really get along. He has his own world, but it never clicked his mind to leave the pack and go rogue.
My parents died when I was ten while they were trying to protect a little human girl who got lost in the woods while we were at war with the Black Water pack. I will never forget Dmitri's story about how he witnessed my parents' death, which happened so fast.
That night was in total chaos. Blood and dead wolves are everywhere, both from Triton Moon Pack and Black Water Pack.
Your mother never leaves your father's side, even in battle. They are both outstanding fighters, but that night, your father strictly ordered your mom not to come to keep her safe. But she did not listen.
We didn't know that your mother had followed us when we left the pack house. We weren't able to catch her scent because she was masking it. She's really a powerful wolf and can do many things that no other werewolves can do.
We were all engaged in the battle, already exhausted, most of us were wounded, and some of us died. But the favor of winning was on our side. The Black Water Pack could not keep up with us, so Alpha Marcus decided to retreat, and the remaining of his pack slowly disappeared into the woods.
After a few moments, we heard a tormenting howl. And the howling came from none other than Luna's wolf. In a split of a second, Alpha Richard had gone into the woods. We followed him, but we were too late. We saw Alpha Richard's unconscious body lying flat on the ground beside Luna Amelia, who was kneeling facing the tree covered with blood, both in human forms.
I ran to them to check on their conditions if there were any signs of life. I went to your father first, but I couldn't get any, then I went to your mother. I saw a slight movement of her body, which gave me hope, but I was shocked when I saw a little human girl under Luna Amelia. She was covered with blood and unconscious, but she was breathing. I realized that the movement was because of the little girl. Your mother must have found her in the woods and protected her from Black Water's.
It's been twelve years since this incident happened, but I still cannot move on. I keep on asking myself how the hell that little girl ended up in the middle of the woods! What kind of parents does she have?! So f*****g irresponsible to let their kid alone like that!
----
This week seems to be good. No single incident of rogue attack has been reported. So far! But we never stop patrolling. We patrol every night and never miss.
"Phelan! That's enough for tonight. Let us head back to the pack house," I said in our mind link.
"Ok, Alpha." Phelan immediately replied through our mind link.
We were halfway to the pack house when I felt that someone had crossed our territory. I looked at my beta, and he gave me a nod of confirmation. But there was something odd about this; my wolf suddenly became anxious, then a strange scent hit me. Strange in a good way. A sweet scent of strawberry, which made my wolf crazy. Then another smell hit me, a hint of the scent of metal, it was definitely blood.
My wolf started to become agitated after picking up the blood scent. I rush to the inner part of the woods in human form towards the direction of the scent.
I halted when I saw the figure of a woman running towards me. She's running really fast as if her life depended on it. She kept on running in my direction and slammed onto my body. She fell flat on her back to the ground and definitely did not see me even though she was running straight towards me.
A groan escaped her mouth after hitting the ground with her eyes closed. I went to her side and knelt to get a closer look at her body to assess for injuries. She's completely unconscious this time.
She had a big cut on the left side of her forehead, making her face drenched with blood. There are scratches all over her body, which I assumed were caused by the branches while she was running into the depths of the woods.
I scanned her body once more to make sure that she was not seriously injured anywhere else. Starting from her bare feet up to her head until my eyes landed on her beautiful hazel eyes. "She's awake!" I shouted in panic after seeing her eyes were open. I couldn't take my eyes off of her. Her eyes feel like home, so loving and comforting.
While I was drawn to the beauty of her eyes, a word escaped from my mouth involuntarily "MINE!".
I saw her mouth open like she was trying to say something, but nothing came out. She just fell unconscious again.
Worry ran through my veins as soon as we lost eye contact.
I tried to wake her up, but no response. I couldn't understand why I felt so worried about a stranger. Adding to it, her eyes were giving me a strange feeling that I couldn't decipher.
As I tried to find answers to all of my questions, a sudden realization hit me!
She's my mate! My f*****g HUMAN mate!
